I have to clear my history and cookies every other day to be able to see multiple pages of posts in forums? Sometimes I will go into General Talk to look for something, and it will say there are only, say, 8 threads. I know that's not true, there's pages of them, but I won't see them until I clear my history/cookies. I have never had this problem before, and I really don't want to have to do this every other day because it erases my passwords and usernames at other places.:help

Are you clicking on "New Posts" or "Today's Posts"? It could be that there are only 8 threads that have been posted to since your last visit. Clearing your cookies would remove the record of when your last visit was, so all the threads would be listed as "new".

I used to be able to get on one computer and, after having read the threads I'm interested in, mark the forums read. Then I could go on another computer (let's not mention that one of them is at work, shall we?) and check "New Threads" and see only those that were new since I marked the forums read on the other comptuer. The new forum software seems to use cookies for that, so the info doesn't get passed between computers.

Thanks for the reply:)

As to your question, no actually... say I click on General Talk today, and at the top and bottom of the page it gives you the option to chose a page and click on it, to see threads that have been bumped down. Well, tomorrow I might go into General talk again, and it will say there are only 3, or 8, etc. posts to the whole forum. I wont see that there are multiple pages to General Talk again until I clear my history and cookies :shrug

I use Firefox, if that makes any difference:chin

I'll admit that is very strange. It almost sounds like the browser interferes with the code on the boards that it uses for indexing the pages. Have you looked to see if any of your settings like javascript or certain web page scripts are not allowed in the browser's security settings? I wonder if clearing the history, etc. is removing something else as well.

Here is a test that you can maybe do. I noticed that the pages urls in General Talk have a linear addressing scheme like, http:// www .christianforums.net/f15/index13.html for page 13, and http:// www .christianforums.net/f15/index14.html for 14, so you can manually type the page number as "index##.html" to get to it. See if you can still get to the pages even if there is not a link for you to click to get there. So if you can only see page 1 on the links try that trick for pages 2 and 3. I'm just curious to hear what the result is.

Regards,

~Josh
