Hi Im new to this site and I could use some help. My parents and friends are not accepting of my new found faith and I could use some recommendations of books or otherwise good ways to learn and grow spirtually. Thanks

Welcome to the forums, Shannon! If you are able to, I suggest finding a church that offers good Bible study groups. From there you can get fellowship, learning, and may be able to find books and other resources to help you grow :)

Welcome to the site. I think a good book to start with is Lee Strobbel's a Case for Christ. It is a great book for learning solid reasoning for a Faith in Christ beyond just because the Bible says so.

X2

And after that you may also wish to read The case for a creator by the same author. :thumb

You might want to try [Dr] John Dickson. He's a great author, and two of his books I have found very helpful. Two books come to mind, one is "A sneaking suspiscion" and another is "Hanging In There". The latter has a chapter on dealing with a family who are scepitcal of your new faith. They're great books. John Dickson wrote the Christfiles book and dvd; you may know them.

Welcome to the site btw! :wave

Welcome aboard Shannon in the name of Jesus to CF Ministries. I hope in Christ that you enjoy fellowshipping with us here, and that you may be bless in what you learn from the Body of Christ. We have great brethern here to answer and/or help you to seek the answers to your questions. Already they've given you some great books to help your walk with Christ. We're glad to have you Shannon and look forward to getting to know you on the boards. :wave

You are warmly welcomed here, Shannon. You are clearly on the straight and narrow path in your walk with the Lord, and I personally am pleased that you seek His face. Stay on the narrow path and let no-one lead you out of the way. Should you ever become discouraged, we invite you to talk to us about whatever concerns you may have as we lift you up in prayer.

Welcome Shannon!

If you have a job like I do that doesn't allow you time to read but plenty of time to listen, I download a podcast from a church in Louisiana and I find the pastor and church extraordinary. Crosspointchurch.org is their website. Check them out! If you have a MP3 player you can put the podcast right on it and play it when ever. Dr. Dowden is amazing.

Welcome Shannon :)

Without getting all theological on you, the best advice I can give is to pray for strength and guidance. We all have family and friends that we can not reach. But remember, our responsibilities are to pray for the lost and live the Christian in front of others. Lead by example if you will. As long as you are doing your part, God will do his. Amen?

May the LORD bless thee and keep thee. May the LORD make his face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee. The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace.

Amen :pray
