What about those people who are in some dark little hut in Africa and have never heard the gospel and they die....what happens to them? They never had a chance to hear so I can't beliieve they would go to Hell?

Latest question from my friend and I so want to get this right..can you help me? :)

okay, I come up this this..what do you think?

No one will go to hell because they haven't heard of Jesus Christ. The heathen will go to hell for murder, rape, adultery, lust, theft, lying, etc. Sin is not failing to hear the gospel. Rather, sin is the transgression of the Law (1 John 3:4). If we really care about the lost, we will become missionaries and take the good news of God's forgiveness in Christ to them.

Romans 2:12
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

Hi there!

If one sincerely seeks the truth of Gospel of Jesus Christ, God will reveal that truth to them, even if they have never heard the "Word" before.

Those who have never heard

Hi Eve, I believe that those who are lost and have never heard the gospel, which means the majority, will eventually be reconciled to God. Some scriptures which I believe support this are Colossians 1:15-20, Romans 8, 1 Cor. 15, Ephesians 1. He is said to be the Savior of all men, especially of believers. (1 Tim. 4:10)Paul teaches that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, but most have never heard the gospel of Jesus. The scriptures also say that there are none which seek Him. Is salvation is based on something that we have done, or is all totally dependent on God? Just my understanding based on what I understand in God's word after continued prayer and searching. God bless.

God will do what is right!

If these people worshipped the true God this would be counted to them as righteousness, if they were idol worshippers then they will die in their sins.

Jesus

If salvation is through faith in Jesus, then they must hear about Jesus. How will they know to turn away from idols and who to turn to? Paul even mentioned to the Athenians about their worship or acknowledgment of the invisible God. He still had to tell them the good news of Jesus, the only name under heaven by which we must be saved. I do agree that God will do what is right. God bless.

The Only Name Under Heaven

I believe that these people have to hear about Jesus and realize that He has done for them, in order for them to worship the true God. He reveals the true God to us. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Most have never heard in this lifetime. I do believe that God will do what is right. God bless.

Instinct -- Nature

  • Romans 2:
14 "For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively ("by nature" KJV) the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves,

15 "In that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,

16 "on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus." NASU

    Romans 5:
13 "For until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law."
......Restin

Good going Restin...those very same verses came to mind for me also. :biggrin

The ones who HAVE heard the Gospel, yet reject it, are the ones we should be the most concerned about.

So I presume the same to be true of all those who lived before Christ?
And what would happen if all christians died? Say in a nuclear war? And those who were left had no idea about the christian God? What if the word of God got lost forever?

I realize you are speaking hypothetically, but if the Word of God was going to get lost forever, it would have been lost already.

No, because the entire population of the world except for a handful of people hasn't been killed.
Unless you count the Noahs ark story. Which I don't.

What if nuclear war killed everyone except some scientists in Antartica, and they were atheists?

Do you mean "and then they repopulated the earth?" The scientists would likely die a lonely death and the earth would have no one left on it. I fail to see where you are going with this hypothetical situation.

Well obviously it would take some time.
I don't see why they would die a lonely death. There is at any time, 60-100 people in Antartica and they are quite self-sufficient.

The same might apply to people in a bunker, somewhere.
In fact, only America need be nuked, as that is where the majority of fundies reside.

My point is, christianity is not essential to humankinds survival. And it has been implied that if christianities message does not reach people, they stand the danger of going to hell. So, therefore, if that message was lost, then everyone born after if was lost would end up in hell for nothing more than not knowing about God. Potential billions of people. I guess hell has the capacity.

...And it has been implied that if christianities message does not reach people, they stand the danger of going to hell...
That is NOT a Biblical implication.

I don't think you read Restin's post above and the verses he quoted. And if you did, I don't believe you understand what they are telling us. :-?

I thought not believing was a sin in itself.

I 'see' what you are saying but fail (on my part perhaps) to understand why you believe that. Is there some scripture you could give us so that we may better understand where you are coming from?

Thanks.

The above thinking is what happens when people don't understand what Jesus Christ is all about. Salvation is NOT obtained by believing in Jesus but by adhering to his gospel and applying " The Golden Rule" in one's life !!
