I figured that since I am a HUGE fan of the 1997 movie and am very interested about the ship itself (although it was a complete tragedy) we can discuss anything having to do with Titanic here.

I have probably seen this movie as many times as there was about as many passengers on the ship and no matter how many times I see it this song and movie always gets to me. Every girl deserves to find her Jack Dawson, luckily for me,.. I have.

You may learn up on Robert Ballard aND Harbor Branch which loaned those subs and Jason Jr for that navy spy mission he was on and discovered the titanic.
John jacob Astor is another one to learn about.

As I am watching Titanic right now I'm sort of curious what would have happened if the famous vessel hadn't of collided with the iceburg. Sorry for the spoilers to all who haven't seen the movie (I know that the sinking part is pretty obvious) but I wonder what would have happened if Jack had survived? Would he and Rose have had a happy life together?

Give the time of the real Titanic's cruise and route, I think rather than an iceberg that she was taken out by a torpedo.
Cruise ships in those times were known to carry supplies for the war effort even as they also carried civilian passengers.
The whole iceberg story just didn't make sense.

I'm just curious but what part about it didn't make sense to you? They were in the middle of Atlantic Ocean in freezing water. I might not know too much about the real story, but I know the movie at least got that part right. Please explain what you mean.

Titanic's maiden voyage was in 1912 through the north Atlantic. Like the Britannic years later in 1916, and also owned by the White Star line, Titanic had a reinforced hull.Double walled bottom of the ship, just so as to reinforce her beam through frigid waters. Britannic was sunk by a torpedo after striking a submerged mine.
I don't think it is unlikely that Titanic was too. The iceberg cause being reason enough to overshadow a war crime on a civilian ship given all passengers of that White Star line would have been unaware of/if Titanic was carrying cargo for a war effort.
Were news of these ships carrying arms for any war effort to get out and that being cause for their sinking, and not just these two ships were lost at sea in that era, the cost to the lines would be immense. Not just in lawsuits, as was the case with Titanic due to WSL not providing enough life boats to sustain the passenger manifest numbers, but also due to the liability of carrying munitions or arms and making that ship then a target of an enemy assault at sea would make people think twice about taking a cruise.

Tests of steel recovered from the Titanic indicate that the ship was built with inferior steel. It had too much sulfur in it, which made it brittle in the cold north. Combine that with the ship moving too fast to avoid icebergs.

I apologize ahead of time again for spoilers but this scene is just so sad and lets face it, you probably wouldn't have clicked on Titanic if you didn't want to talk about it whether or not you have actually seen the movie.

False. I was going to pop a quiz to see if anybody knew the real answer to why it sunk. Yes, it was a mystery, but no longer.
The bottom of the boat was found. Separate from the rest of the boat. A long distance away. I don't remember the exact dimensions, but big enough to cross the majority of the sections the hull was divided into that were designed to make it unsinkable. Ripped right off!
A torpedo cannot do that kind of damage. An iceberg can. Every piece of evidence fits into place perfectly, including the eyewitness accounts that were thought to be contradictory.
Look up the documentary on this, I'm sure I must've seen it on YouTube.

Oh, there was room on that thing for both of them. I thought that was the biggest blooper ever.
I've watched the videos and...I'm pretty convinced that they sunk the Olympic on purpose for the insurance money. They had another ship standing by and it's only cargo was 3000 sweaters and blankets? They was supposed to pick up the survivors real quick but got mixed up on what color flares to use so they didn't respond fast enough to save many people.
I bit of insurance fraud by a Mr J.P.Morgan...

I just realized that I never did reply to this. Jack and Rose couldn't fit on that door together because they both tried to get onto it and then it flipped over remember? There was even an extended deleted scene that explained it into lengthy details. Anyways, the real original reason why I came back to this topic to post is because I saw a video last night that I found to be extremely interesting,

It has been awhile since I watched that movie. But still, hollywood. In reality they both could have lived, I'm pretty sure.
I liked how the girl (old lady) tossed the precious jewel in the end. It was the ethical thing to do. There's more to life than fine jewels, lol. She knew it.

I agree with you but I believe that the true reason Rose threw the heart of the ocean back into the water is because she had lived a full life just like she had promised Jack she would do and so she was symbolically as well as literally letting go at the end.
I realize that there has been speculation whether or not she was dreaming or passed away in her sleep, but I really think that she died because that would make a whole lot of sense considering the fact that she also promised Jack that she would die an old lady warm in her bed.
