Christian rock and metal music

I got saved in 1986 at the age of 14. Right from the start I was turned on to Christian Rock music. The first album I bought was by Stryper. I quickly got turned onto other Christian rock and metal bands: Petra, DeGarmo and Key, Vengeance Rising, Believer,, Seventh Angel, etc. I've had a lot of debates with other Christians over the years, but it has never shaken my opinion that these bands are serving The Lord. I would like to hear other's opinions about Christian rock and metal music?

My problem right out of the gate with skillet was the first album cover I saw that shows the 1 eye.... that of course is what all the secular musicians do too... the all seeing eye..... it is done to show youve accepted the terms and conditions.... it is what it is....

As Bloodgood sings

If you know him there be life
If you dont there be separation
From my God
Oh Lord their gonna die
Without the blood
Without the blood of Jesus Christ
Whats following the grave

A good band hard to find on Google is, spoken. That is the band not spoken word. The song forevermore is lit. I love this song. His voice is amazing when it cracks. Old school, but some of the best.

Well, if you think you can derive more "fun" from a life centered upon God, you don't really know Him. God isn't a killjoy but the Source of all true joy and happiness.

This should read: "...if you think you can derive more "fun" from a life NOT centered upon God, you don't really know Him.

Legalism is called adding extra rules that aren't in the Bible.

Actually, music back in in ancient Israel was more rhythmic than melodious. The Psalms talk about dancing to worship God. What were they dancing to? Beethoven's 5th?

That is one form of legalism. There are many more forms.

Except, King David invented 2 types of harp or lyre. One was called the Kinnor and had 10 strings. It was small and portable. The other was the Nevel which had 22 strings, one for each letter of the Hebrew language. If we could know how the Nevel was tuned, we would know the melody of most of the Psalms.

That'd be neat. The Psalms do mention using all kinds of instruments.

While I do listen to some christian rock not all Christian rock is Christian.

“We toured with more ‘Christian bands’ who actually aren’t Christians than bands that are. In 12 years of touring with As I Lay Dying, I would say maybe one in 10 Christian rock bands we toured with were actually Christian.”

Tim Lambesis, former frontman of As I Lay Dying.
