Re: Why do Atheists not believe?
1. That documentary was laughable, I had to watch it a few times to fully absorb the [insert profanity that would get me banned here]. It has a 9% rating amongst the public on Rotten Tomatoes (Even with the constant votebot attacks). Amongst professional...
1. Even if I said I don't know that wouldn't make your religion correct. Do you see how? I want to make this perfectly clear; Not knowing is always better than believing in something fallacious. If Science can't explain how the universe came into existence (Which it can, to an extent) then it...
Re: Why do Atheists not believe?
I've had this problem in my Euthyphro Dilemma thread, you mix up cause and effect. I already know they don't believe there is a God, I'm asking why you think they don't.
So do I (Depending on what you define pure justice as lol), but it isn't 2 Kings 2:23-24...
Ultimately everything in the natural world (The universe) that can affect us in any way shape or form is either natural or supernatural but in natural form.
Anything else doesn't affect us in the slightest, or at the very least unless we enter the supernatural realm.
Depending on what you mean by worship then I agree with you.
If by worship you mean agree with or like then sure, I 'worship' many things. But if you mean (like I think you do) worship as in manifest faith or unwavering obedience in then no, I don't worship anything.
I only use Science for as...
Well if he has any effect at all on our lives then yes, we can. Jesus coming down and having a beer IS something we can video tape.
The thing is, for us to detect him (or Him, whatever) he has to manifest himself in a natural form. Therefore it's impossible for you to detect him in a...
Re: Why do Atheists not believe?
i edited this to keep the debate on why atheists dont believe, jason
And that's where you're wrong lol, you don't 'believe' in Atheism, you cease to believe in Theism. Atheism is simply the absence of Theism, it isn't it's own thing.
If you're talking about...
Give me an example of someone waging a war IN THE NAME OF Atheism. I don't mean someone who's coincidentally Atheistic, because if you want to go down that route then you can include all of the millions of Christian people who did terrible things and were coincidentally Christian (Pretty much...
Ok then. While I don't believe it has any effect it shows you care which is nice.
I suppose it would be the logical couse of action when you believe I'm going to eternal torture for all eternity (Depending on your denomination) lol.
Re: Why do Atheists not believe?
Lol guys I'm not asking for an argument about why Atheist morality is flawed, I'm simply asking for a basic answer to "Why do atheists not believe?"
For example: They want to sin.
Simple.
Well neither can you. The only thing you can really know is "I think therefore I am", anything beyond that is an assumption of some kind. You have standards of evidence. If you pass electricity through a million cows and they all die then it's pretty conclusive evidence that cows don't like...
Re: Why do Atheists not believe?
Do you have a better method of gaining knowledge? Naturalism seems to be working out pretty well lol.
By the way, most Atheists (I can't speak for all lol) aren't closed to the idea of supernaturalism, but because there's not really a method of determining...
Claiming scientists are mistaken is one thing, but claiming that they know it's false and are outright lying is another. In fact it's almost the most stupid thing I've ever heard, do you realize how many millions of dollars and prizes any scientist could claim if he/she disproved the theory? And...
Really? You can't think of any? Ok well:
French Wars of Religion (4 million killed, 8th worst war of all time [off the top of my head :lol ])
The Crusades (Many of which were approved by the Pope)
The 30 Years War (6-11 million killed)
Taiping Rebellion
It would seem worthwhile to say...
God is one of those things like UFO's, they've been so heavily reported that there's an aura of plausible deniability surrounding it.
That said, there are numerous things that would prove him to me, if God came down in front of me and said something obscenely unlikely (Like gave me a list of...
