    Visiting Pastor and the Farmer

I love hot buttermilk biscuits with creamy country sausage gravy. Best place for it, IMO, is the Hot Biscuit Diner in Ticonderoga NY. They call it the Sawmill breakfast. More than a normal man should reasonably eat...but, I manage. :)

    Changing Churches

I've been with just one church since moving to Connecticut 35 years ago. The United Methodist Church. I love my congregation, we're a conservative, traditional, Gospel-based congregation. Our New York Annual Conference, which includes 450 churches, however, has gone astray. They've decided...

    Anyone Own a Smart Watch?

I lose such things, probably because I don't want them in the first place. I have an idea, why don't we design a phone that attaches to the wall and is connected by a cable. Cheap, useful, and will never get lost. I want one for outgoing calls only. :)

God Is Soooo Out Of Touch

This is how the website defines itself: "The Babylon Bee is Your Trusted Source For Christian News Satire." Have we gotten to a point where we can't understand the role of satire?

God Is Soooo Out Of Touch

Of those in the church who feel the need to reinterpret the Gospel to make it fit with changing culture. The church is supposed to be a light to the world, not a reflection of the world.

God Is Soooo Out Of Touch

I really didn't think I needed to say that it's not meant to be serious...it's mockery.

God Is Soooo Out Of Touch

"HEAVEN—The everlasting Creator God admitted through a messenger Tuesday that He has recently been concerned that His unchanging, eternal truths might end up being on the wrong side of history." "The Lord has reportedly been growing increasingly worried in recent years that His objective morals...

    A great denial.

This is a discussion that will probably go on until the return of Christ. I do believe there are core theological points that require literal understanding in order to support our faith, such as the resurrection. But there are different forms of literature in the Bible, and I don't think our...

The book which is causing muslims to panic

I sometimes wonder how I would have been with that rape and plunder thing.

    Going Out Of Orthodoxy Sale

Not as bad as it sounds guys. But, it is a problem we're dealing with. Liberal bishops and clergy refusing to live by their covenant oaths to defend the faith. "Everything must go! Bibles, hymnals, sound doctrine—make an offer!"

The United Methodist Church Judicial Council Upholds Church Law

Actually, CE, the Methodist Church has gone through something similar in the 1800s, over slavery. The Methodist Episcopal Church Book of Discipline contained very strong language against slavery, and against clergy owning slaves. In 1844, with the abolitionist movement having a strong...

The United Methodist Church Judicial Council Upholds Church Law

I don't think it will solve the problem. The church will uphold the church law, but many of the liberal congregations may split rather than remove the non-conforming clergy.

The United Methodist Church Judicial Council Upholds Church Law

http://www.umc.org/news-and-media/consecration-of-gay-bishop-against-church-law Church law requires all clergy persons to dedicate themselves to “the highest ideals of Christian life,” the decision said, including “their commitment to abide by and uphold the church’s definition of marriage and...

    Hillbilly Elegy

About the culture of the Appalachian people. I grew up in the northern end of the Appalachians in Upstate New York and recognize some of the cultural dynamics. I did not have a dysfunctional family such as the author had, but I sure knew a lot of those families.
