Questions:

1. Do these verses mean that people who are CURRENTLY committing these acts will not go to Heaven?... Even if they believe in Jesus?

2. What does the part in bold mean?

If they believe in Jesus, why are they doing those things. This is referring to those who don't repent of doing such things.

The phrase "abusers of themselves with mankind" is translated from a single word - arsenokoites. It's a compound word which means a man who has sex with other men, i.e. a homosexual.

Most try to understand verses 9 and 10 without taking this verse 11 into account, as if there is no context. Verse 11 says, “and such were some of youâ€. This is important to notice when one considers the state of the ekklesia in Corinth. And that state is the greater context of this those two verses. The only thing good that Paul could say about these people was that, “but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.†In other words, their only redeeming characteristic was the fact that they were in Christ. Paul was trying to get the Corinthian believers to live up to being in Christ, not to stay in a state so that they looked no different than those who are not in Christ. Paul did not say that they ARE such as those in verses 9 and 10, but that they WERE such as those. Now they are in Christ and need to live accordingly. 2Corinthians reveals that they apparently got the message and Paul was able to give them more.

“nor abusers of themselves with mankindâ€

This KJV phrase translates one Greek word that refers to cohabitation or lying on a couch together. It is used in only one other place, 1Timothy 1:10 where the KJV translates this with another phrase, “for them that defile themselves with mankindâ€. The NASB and most modern translations translates this word as “homosexual†in both instances. Earlier translations translate the Greek word as “sodomiteâ€, which means about the same thing. I think that both are interpretive translations. The Greek word implies that any cohabitation outside of marriage is what is being referred to here. The Greek words that come before this Greek word in both instances seem to imply that Paul was referring to a class of people who were misusing sexuality. A lot like what is being done today.

Thanks for the responses.

So, if someone knowingly wants to get drunk, and also claims to believe in Jesus, that person should check if they really do believe in Jesus? In other words, the want to "get drunk" and love for Jesus contradict each other and it is not possible to do both, correct?

There are those who have never agreed with God about their own state. They are probably not in Christ. But do not discount the power of our own flesh. Everyone is fighting addictions of one sort or another due to the flesh. And the Bible is clear that there are no perfect people on the earth, including those who are in Christ. What we have is the fact that we are in Christ and it is the Life of God in Christ that overcomes the flesh through the Spirit. Those who are in Christ and have this Life, but do not walk by the Spirit will seem to be just as if they were not in Christ (Galatians 5). Don't confuse yourself by thinking that you or anyone else is so perfect that sin is no longer there. John showed that is an impossibility and gave a way to help us to overcome, confession (1John). Not in and of itself as if it is a talisman, but relying on the Spirit of God and the Life that is in Christ. I can testify that the fight is life long, being elderly myself.

Would someone who knowingly likes to get drunk be considered a "drunkard?" ... Like a college student, for example.

By the way, I'm not talking about myself. When I was going to college, I was like that. But I have no desire at all to "get drunk" any more. I feel like this is something that God has changed me on.

Yes it does mean that

It mean that they are in a homosexual relationship with another man

Someone who is drunk daily? Someone who gets drunk multiple times a week? Someone who gets drunk once a month? All of the above?

Dictionary.com defines it as "one who is habitually or frequently drunk". Thesaurus.com lists the synonyms alcoholic, barfly, bibber, boozer, carouser, drinker, lush, wine-bibber and wino among others. Antonyms listed include abstainer and teetotaler.

If someone commits a sin right before they die and they never get a chance to ask for forgiveness for that specific sin, would they go to Heaven? Asssume they believe in Jesus.

This question is to everyone.
