I remember reading a book that dealt exclusively with the attributes of God in the Tanakh. The premise was that if we better understand God through the Tanakh we can use this information and apply it to the Gospel and better understand it. I didn't actually read the entire book, but I did peruse it a little and came upon a section about God and humor.

I was intrigued, to say the least. I had never thought of Yahweh as humorous. However the book gave some good examples and concluded that in our modern times more people read translations of the Tanakh than the original text itself (Hebrew). The problem lies in translation. Apparently the Hebrew language is a very intricate language and humor is easily lost when it is translated to a different language.

So, is God funny?

I'd like to think so, keyword being LIKE. Humor is much more than some people would like to think. Not everyone is humorous. It's something that takes lots of knowledge to pull off well. God is the smartest being ever. So, He would, perhaps, be the funniest being ever, as well.

I will do some searching for either a) the book or b) somewhere else that speaks of God's humor, but I'd love to see other people's views on a humorous God, or if He expresses humor at all.

EDIT

I was just thinking, God created everything. So, I suppose there is humor, maybe, in the things He created... Like the Blobfish...

Yes, I do think that God most definitely has a sense of humor. As I have studied the teachings of Jesus, I have also come to the conclusion that Jesus must have had a great sense of humor. I think that it is on us to see that which is humorous in life and to enjoy our existences in the time we have to spend. I don't see any conflict between loving God and laughing at those things that are a source of laughter. That doesn't mean being mean-spirited, arrogant or sarcastic. I truly believe that when we can laugh at life, we our serving God.
