A fellow science teacher, a friend of 15 years, is moving on. Yesterday was her last day. I watched her mature and grow as an educator; she is first-rate.

When she came to tell me, it was sad enough. But then.

"My father died when I was very young, and you've been like a father to me." And I kinda lost it there. I'm not much of a hugging person, but we hugged. And I'm sad to think she won't be there when I go back in the fall.

Genuine and close personal friends are rare in these last days, and while they may move on, they are forever close by in mind and heart. Just a sample of how Christ feels for us. Sad to say, not everyone in these last days know or experience what you have.

Just last week, she told me that the back door on her house was sticking so badly that her mother couldn't get it open or closed. She thought it had gotten warped because a gutter was leaking on it. So I loaned her a small sander, with instructions for sanding down the edge, and sealing the gutter.. She's not very handy, and her Mom was worried that she'd hurt herself, but it worked.

So, yes, I guess a bit of "Dad" stuff going on.

Sorry to hear. Your an amazing person and I'm sure you've impacted her in so many different ways that it's changed her life.
