a nation of god to a nation abandoning god and the impact

I was looking at the history of the USA and I cant help but notice a trend. From the beginning to about the 1950s or60s the USA was a nation with firm belief in God. Sure there was freedom of religion but the founding fathers started the country with God in mind and many people in the US were people of God and the US was on the rise as the world powerhouse. However the US has come over a great deal of trubble over the last 50 or 60 years. Hippies, Drugs, degrading society and morals, abortion, alienation of God from any government affairs (most notably God being booed at the democrat national convention) and bashing of christians. The nation is abandoning God and the us Has been on a downward spiral for the last 50 60 years.

in the bible there are many quotes that say things Like No nation can prevail without God. nations of God prevail Godless nations fall. So I look at america and it seemed as i was rising to power it was a nation of god and as it is falling it is not as the scriptures predict.

does anyone else see this parallel? am I right in seeing this or wrong?
