LONDON: In what sounds like a chilling script of a Hollywood science fiction, scientists have claimed that an invisible star, five times the size of Jupiter, might be lurking near our solar system, occasionally kicking deadly comets towards the Earth.

According to NASA scientists, the brown dwarf star is up to five times the size of Jupiter and could be responsible for mass extinctions that occur on Earth every 26 million years.

They believe, the star nicknamed Nemesis or "The Death Star" could be hidden beyond the edge of our solar system and only emits infrared light.

It is believed to orbit our solar system at 25,000 times the distance of the earth to the sun, 'The Sun' quoted the scientists as saying.

According to them, as the star spins through the galaxy, its gravitational pull drags icy bodies out of the Oort Cloud -- a vast sphere of rock and dust twice as far away as Nemesis.

"These 'snowballs' are thrown towards Earth as comets, causing devastation similar to the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago," the report said.

Professor John Matese, of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, said most comets come from the same part of the Oort Cloud.

"There is statistically significant evidence that this concentration of comets could be caused by a companion to the Sun."

So I take it you all believe the star that falls to earth on the 3rd trumpet is a literal asteroid or comet hitting the earth?

Consider what those scientists are saying about something like that causing exstinction on the earth, because there's FOUR more trumpet events written in Revelation to happen on earth after the 3rd trumpet, per God's Word.

So if that means a literal asteroid hitting the earth, even one of small diameter, it would supposedly cause exstinction of human, animal and plant life upon the earth. Yet in Rev.9, the locust army two trumpets later is told to not hurt the grass, nor any "green thing", nor any tree.

Thus God's Word shows this earth is not going to be hit by a literal asteroid to destroy it. Junk in space is always hitting the earth's atmosphere, which mostly burn up before reaching the earth's surface. So something big enough to cause the type of theorized wipe out of the dinasour age would have be huge to make it through, and would cause the end of all green things growing on the earth. That event wouldn't be on the 3rd trumpet if one suggests that's how Armageddon happens. It would be mentioned on the 7th trumpet instead.

But it makes for exciting movies and sells books, because of playing on people's fears.

The Oort cloud does not exist. It is a gimmick, a joke. Just like Richard Dawkins flying teapot.

The Oort cloud, is a hypothesized spherical cloud of comets which may lie roughly 50,000 AU, or nearly a light-year, from the Sun.

To put that into perspective, Pluto is about 30 to 49 AU's away and we cannot even get a good image of it yet we are supposed to believe in something that is apparently 50,000 AU's away then base all these allegations upon it. It is horse pucky.

revelations does speak of a comet hitting the sea, like wise a massive earth quake.

A star named wormwood, that burns a third of the earth, there has been another discovery which was posted earlier. about some thing coming our way.?

I believe that there is enough evidence in the Bible to prove the existance of Olam for the Jews and Nibiru for the Sumerians

Especially in Isaiah and Revelation.
