What is a good starting point for our faith? How about this:

[34] But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sad'ducees, they came together.
[35] And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him.
[36] "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"
[37] And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[38] This is the great and first commandment. Matt 22:34-38 RSV

Sounds to me an excellent starting point. From here we can move toward showing our belief and distinguishing the seen from the unseen. Those who say they love God but despise His creation (other people) are liars. What did Paul say then about "Great Commandments"? What did James say about Faith and Action? What does the Life of Christ show us? The 2nd summary commandment flows from this starting point.
