an honest question

Doing a handstand on his right hand. His right leg is bent backward at the knee.
Left arm out to the side and left leg extended and pointed back and upward.
His head looks like it is turned to the side, rather than forward, chin raised. But then I can't remember the correct posture for this move.

Hope that is what you were asking.

lol Yeah. That seems to be the general impression everyone gets. It's actually intended to be an upward kick, but I think I've been watching too many ninja fights. (*cough*Naruto*cough*) If that's what I was going for, drawing someone else fighting with him would have been more clear.

In any case, here's my second question:
In the below picture, do you feel that the pose of the middle character helps the message of the picture, or detracts from it?

(Oh yes, and the quote is paraphrased from a Naruto episode. That's probably why I had a tendency to sketch up some ideas based on ninja poses, as I intended with the guy in the middle. In the end I decided the message might come across better if I drew people exercising, so the rest just ended up being the most obvious forms of exercise.)

Those who haven't responded yet please answer both questions.

I think what distracts me from getting it is the last guy in the pose of doing what looks like a pushup, otherwise I may have interpreted it differently.
So it looked to me like gymnastics which is really what a lot of the ninja moves are anyway.
So I think the middle picture is fine but would give a clearer picture in the last pose, by giving it more action.

I love Jackie Chan and watching Bruce Lee's moves. Can't really watch his movies though they are too violent for me.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

It doesn't have to be ninja-related, really, since the message isn't just meant to apply to physical strength. But physical exercise seemed like the best visual representation in this case. And it was inspired by ninjas. lol (Naruto can actually be a pretty inspiring series. A lot of the shows I like best are that way, it's part of why I like them.)

I liked the idea of the third being more active, though. I sketched up another person and tried out the person. Now I have three versions of the WIP. I'm calling it a WIP, but at this point most (perhaps all) of my work is done unless I decide to make some major revisions. (Making another sketch would actually be pretty easy. The hardest thing about this picture was deciding on the representations I'd use and how I'd use them.) I've just got to decide which one I'll go with.
Part of me just wants to decide now and be done with it, since I've been working on this off and on for over a week. And the other wants me to wait until this evening and see how I feel about it then. Because sometimes something I like after first drawing it, I decide is horrible later on.
Besides, I'm asking for feedback, and surely at least a couple more people will have responded by this evening. xD

Normally it's my family I bombard with these types of questions regarding my drawings. xD It's good to get someone elses' perspective, especially on art with a message or that's representing something, because sometimes others don't see what I see or intended.

Well, I don't know that you are asking for an opinion on these four but I'll stick my nose in anyway. Hope you don't mind.
I really like the one with the four poses. To me it flows from the second position into the fourth. Without the third I don't feel that.
These are all good quest, in my opinion. :)

I like the one with 4 as well. It is clearer with the other arm removed. After looking at it longer it could even be a break dancer, which still goes with the theme.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting!
Those cats were fast as lightning!
In fact it was a little bit frightening!
But they fought with expert timing!

Whoahahwhoahawhooo...
(Sorry couldn't resist) I like the old kung fu movies too.

I'm working on something. Taking into account that these three pictures are part of a series--they will all end up in the same picture, and they are meant to share a common theme--what does the one in the middle look like he's doing?

My first thought was breakdancing.
