People (especially Christians) do not want to know the truth. In the past, the prophets were killed for bringing forth messages sent by God. And though the people killed the messenger, it was the message which irritated the people.
Now, fast forward two-three thousand years and we find ourselves discussing the same scriptures which got the prophets killed. The message is the same and the truth in the message should irritate people just as it did in the past.
The shelves of Bible book stores are full of books which twist and sugar coat the word of God. The best guage for determining whether an understanding of the prophetic scriptures is valid would be; how many people agree with this view. If alot of people agree with it and it is well received, it probably is wrong. If very few people agree with it, it probably has merit worth investigating.
