In a new study, researchers used advanced mass spectrometry and protein sequencing to detect bone collagen in a well-preserved hip bone from an Edmontosaurus.

Dinosaur organic molecules. Which, according to organic chemists, can last for millions of years if stabilized by iron compounds. Further evidence confirming Huxley's prediction, over 150 years ago, that birds were evolved from other dinosaurs.

Dinosaur-Bird Link: Ancient Proteins Preserved In Soft Tissue From 80 Million-Year-Old Hadrosaur

May 1, 2009 Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Summary:

Ancient protein dating back 80 million years to the Cretaceous geologic period has been preserved in bone fragments and soft tissues of a hadrosaur, or duck-billed dinosaur. The new findings support earlier results suggesting that collagen protein survived in the bones of a well preserved Tyrannosaurus rex, and offer robust new evidence supporting previous conclusions that birds and dinosaurs are evolutionarily related.
