So Christ is not the head of the church?

Yes, Jesus is the bridegroom of the church.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Yes, God the Father gave unto Jesus authority over the believers who make up his church. I was speaking about here on the earth when I mentioned pastors, deacons and teachers.
