Are All Churches Haunted?

I can't help noticing that churches, no matter how old or young, seem to have a very distinctive, borderline-eerie atmosphere. In some cases it's downright spooky.

Does this mean that all churches are actually haunted, because religious rites somehow draw spirits into the building? It's difficult to see another explanation.

(I asked this question on Yahoo Answers yesterday, but sadly various anti-Christian persons used it as an excuse to attack Christianity, when I'd been hoping for a few sensible answers. So I thought I'd try posting it here instead. Thank for sharing your thoughts.)

Welcome to CF.net Ebenezer. The only semblance to that I've ever seen was in movies, the Exorcist probably being the most notable and their success was little if anything. There are many churches hunting membership, though I doubt they solicit ghosts to haunt them. :wave

Seems to be a lot of interest in haunting lately. But in answer to your question I can only offer my own experience, and that is that no church building I've been in felt like it was haunted to me. Is it maybe that Hollywood horror movies have focused so much on church buildings when the subject is haunting and demons? Maybe this just conditions people to feel this way. I don't watch horror movies very often, so maybe that's why I don't feel this way in church buildings... Just a thought to ponder.

Yes, you were posting this at the same time I was writing my response. I guess that makes at least two of us who suspect the influence of movies. I'm glad it's the influence of movies and not the influence of REAL demons in the churches I go to! :-D

All True Churches are indeed haunted by a ghost.... The Holy Ghost, and when you walk into a True Church, you feel it's presense. One that's aware of the Holy Ghost will walk a little bit more light-footed and humble to him (not everyone else) in such an instance.

Most churches are haunted.... But not with the ghosts you want to be around! These ghosts will whisper to you that the Bible was manipulated and is not the Word of God. They will tell you of traditions of men and Jewish fables like.... Well, I won't go there!

The only defense you have in any Church is whether or not it is preaching the Bible without variableness. Without doubt that it might have been forged to make you believe that the traditions of men are more assured than it is...

So if you have a Church that preaches the Bible as it says it is, then yes... Your Church is haunted. And that's a good thing because it's haunted by the Holy Ghost. All other Churches that deny the Bible and say there is error in it, scribes inadvertantly added to it, Jewish fables take presidence over the Word.... Well, there's a haunting by demons. Get away from that!

Thanks Obadiah.... I do believe in Ghosts.... I believe in the Holy Ghosts! He don't haunt me... But he's there.... But then, some don't think God does that kind of stuff anymore...
