These are quotes from the bible.

Revelation 18:21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "So shall Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and shall be found no more... 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of ALL who have been slain on earth."

-Here, Babylon is established as a land where prophets and saints were killed.

And then we have these verses.

Matthew 23:34-35
Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, 35 that upon you may come ALL the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent Abel to the blood of Zechari'ah the son of Barachi'ah , whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.

Matthew 23:37
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!

My questions...
1. Is it christian doctrine that Babylon is none other than Jerusalem or is it something else.
2. What do you make of the 3 verses shown above?

They are interesting scriptures and on the surface seem to make a connection, but they don't. Prophets were killed in both places.

Babylon has always been a reference to the world ....those who have rejected Jesus Christ as savior.

Apples are round....oranges are round, oranges must be apples. No, there are similarities, but they are not the same

On another forum, I had read with interest the Seventh Day Adventist doctrine that the great whore is Jerusalem, not Rome. I was impressed at how strong a case they had. But the statement that it is on seven hills, and that it is the city that rules the kings of the land show that it is Rome. At that time, Jerusalem had been destroyed by the Romans and was rebuilt as a pagan city.

In addition, the the city was inhabited by all kinds of foul creatures after its destruction, and that didn't happen to Jerusalem.
