Be Still and Know that I'am God. Ps. 46:10

I like the way the NASB translates it ...
Psalm 46 NASB
10 "Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The literal translation of those two words from the Hebrew -- phonetic spellings raw-faw reh-ooth' -- would be "relax your longing" or "relax your striving." Very powerful words.

Hi there: we have this text on display in our home.

Psalm 46 is a great Psalm.

Blessings.

Strong's H3045 = yada

b) (Niphal)

1) to be made known, be or become known, be revealed

I like this detailed description of know. It says to me that if we be still (cease striving) that the Lord will reveal Himself to us that we may know Him.

Deborah13:

In this connection, I also love the lines by John Greenleaf Whittier:

'Drop Thy sweet dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease,
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Thy peace.'
