Michael Mcdonald...imagine Doobie Brothers without his iconic voice...
Praise the Lord.!...he sang for Steely Dan too.....unique voices like his are impossible to imitate

Paul Macartney
If you listen to many Beatles songs you will notice the scope, the depth and breadth of his voice...he could scream "oh darlin'" he could do gentle "Blackbird". Then all the harmonies with Lennon. His voice was so integral to the Beatles sound. Then he could imitate an American cowboy on "Rocky Racoon"..... ' on the hills of South Dakota came a boy named rocky racoon'... I think he also tried imitating the Beach Boy sound in " Back in the USSR."
Praise the Lord for Macca!

John Fogarty
What a voice! No one sounds like him. If you are in the mood Creedence are a fun group. I try to play the intro to this song. It's a cute screechin' slide''!

Here's McDonald in a song I love but just can't play! it's way too hard. Look at the chords with varied bass notes. He wrote this one with Kenny Loggins. Now there is another songwriting talent. Apparently this song and others have a song writing influence from Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.
Anyway, this song best shows off McDonald's voice imo.

what a fool believes
What a Christian believes
We have to risk appearing foolish
In a way we have to be fools
To choose a love we can't see

I agree with what you say about Mecca. The best one of the Beatles, He had a very rich voice, unfortunately he seems to have lost the best of it.
I don't know the outer two you mention.
I liked Mario Lanza, Rey Charles , Roy Orbison, Engelbert Humperdink, Dusty Springfield. My current favourite is Alfie Boe.

Roy Orbison does a haunting duet of the song "Crying" with KD Lang. Almost makes me cry...?

Probably the best vocals I have ever heard was from Eddie Vedder.

Pearl Jam live playing "Black". MTV unplugged.

The Vocal Tone, Intimacy, Element, Authentic, Breath Control, it just goes on, it's just faultless vocals and a true real singer in my opinion.

Just because someone can sing a song and in key that's just called a good singer or a great singer even. Yet there is so much more to it. And I don't even know that much about singing. But each to there own it's just my choice for best vocal, or one of them because there are many others also who can rip some vocals. Each to there day or whatever. Everyone has there off days.
