I have a friend at another forum who dedicates her time to exposing Satanism in the world today. She posts videos by former Satanists and/or victims of ritual abuse who have come out of it to tell of what they went through.
I always tell her that the subject matter is a bit too dark for me to meditate on all the time the way she can, but I appreciate what she does. It reminds Christians of the real spiritual war going on around them far more than all the petty bickering that goes on over doctrines, especially when half the time people end up disputing things as basic as whether there is a Hell or not. Paul's mindset was he was continually at war with spiritual enemies who were trying to destroy him, undermine his ministry, and keep souls from receiving the gospel.
Maybe it's because his ministry was doing so much to threaten Satan's kingdom and deliver souls into God's that the spiritual war was so real to him, and always at the forefront of his thinking. For those who aren't on the front lines of the spiritual war, verses like the above have almost no practical meaning. The only "armor" that exists in their lives are the cute outfits they have their kids wear in Sunday school.
