This is truly intense. We first need to differentiate those who do evil and those who do good. I have read news where someone gather some people to protest against Bad governance and the government of that country sent an army quell the protest. The protest last for some days where cloud block major roads and suddenly the citizens were complaining about the protesters disturbing the progress of the state. Now something happened that surprised me in that event. During the army raid against protesters, some of the protesters lost their lives and it lead to total chaos and rioting whereby hoodlum took advantage of the protest and caused mass looting of various malls, warehouse and stores. Then I began to understand why the government did not want people to protest. The whole thing changed the way I see the government even though what they are doing somehow seems unpleasant with the way the economy is. Now to those who do evil. The Bible says God will cut off their memory from earth. Back to the government, we have heard how people we see as innocent were jailed or killed and just like that the country continue to run with the same people in power. There is no way to justify evil but only God knows those who do evil. Someone who hurt others feelings and say sorry is still better than someone who goes about hurting people for a living. I think those who do evil are those in whose end there is no benefit of good and what God sees is to cut off their memory. What do you think?
What you think was what actually came to mind around 2018 when I was driving and I imagined a terrorist intentionally ramming car into crowd of people or bombing them.I guess what I think about is the terrorists who crashed into the twin towers. I am sure for anyone who knew them, their memory would just be on that evil act at the end that they did. Even though we don't know anyone's heart at the end of their life, more then likely they did not come to Christ and followed through with that. I believe this sort of evil without Christ will be cut off from memory. But even those who did wicked all their life and come to Christ in the end, some of them are forgotten too. Only thing we remember is war and death and persecution, but one day this will be a thing of the past. We will one day have no more pain and sorrow and all of that will be forgotten. It is another reason that is good to remind myself and others when it comes to forgiveness, because justice will be served one day. So I guess even though this seems a bit harsh, it really can be comforting at the same time that one day the wicked will be no more.
Hidden In Him some people do suicide bombing to defend their Faith. And they were appreciated by their sect and people of same religion. The Bible says out of two or three every fact is confirmed 2 Cor 13:1, if the people condemning an act as evil are equal on both sides of the scale. Some sect will say they do it for the greater good while other said it's inhumane. In this case it is those who can call on God for vengeance that God will decide to intervene. So God must raise an arm of powerful force to condemn the act which was what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan war. King Saul was so wicked to David that he had to run down to seek asylum in Philistine. Down there he was met with serious challenges which made him to understand life. He never faced those things before because he was a Shepherd boy. Afterwards he became a King someone came to tell David about the death of King Saul. Let's look into this a little... Someone (though a foreigner) came to tell David that King Saul was dead and explained how King Saul asked him to finish his death and he (the foreigner did). The man may think that the news would please David and by telling him He will have a green card visa to live with Israel next KingYep. Pretty bad. I think David was writing from the perspective of a king here, having it in mind how he would be remembered himself. Egyptian pharaohs built pyramids to themselves. The rulers of other nations built massive temples and monuments to their victories in battle and accomplishments as kings. Solomon would build the temple of the Lord, but David was not permitted to since he was a man of war, so I assume he wondered how he might be remembered. But he obviously knew that the Lord would not allow wicked men to be remembered well, so I think he kept this psalm in mind to keep himself from sinning.
I'm not David. I hold no illusions about that. But in a sense I am also a man of war, and it causes me to stop and think. I have defended others against heresy, but I have sometimes done so rather aggressively, making me wonder if I will be remembered as some sort of spiritual bully or something. But I guess in the end maybe we just have to trust God that he will cause us to be remembered well, and make it known to others that our motives were not to destroy the heretic but merely to protect others from harm. It's not fun to bring the sword. You don't always have a lot of friends.

And I concluded that day - that such act is pure wickedness. People who do such are evil and will be forgotten when they are gone

but in 2 Samuel 1:14-15 "Why were you not afraid to kill the LORD’s anointed one?” David asked. Then David called one of his men and said, “Go, strike him down!” So he struck him down, and he died.
This act is good in sight of the sect and people of Israel so far it was David who ordered it.
The human right and social media activist are today condemning rape, child abuse, drug abuse etc and so on because they already understood that the standard of evil is what has been condemn by majority of sane sect of people. (Whereas what's sane here may be insane on the other side) which is why the world is where it is today. (You can imagine the first thing President Joe Biden said to Africans after they were so happy he took over was that "he will strictly sanction any country who does not allow LGBT to publicly parade their Lifestyle or whatever". People all over were dumbfounded when they read the news.
As a Christian the Holy Bible is our Standard because it teaches moral development and righteousness and those who follow such standard must do so by faith in Jesus Christ. It is only Jesus that did not commit any extremist sin and he condemn such in the people of his own which is why they crucified him.
The Bible is because of Jesus, not because of any other prophet. And those who follow his ways makes the world a better place.
What do you have to say about this?
@HiddeninHim as long as I've known you, brother, you have only wanted to get people to believe the truth as well as flow more in the greater gifts of the Spirit. You have softened in a good way. Of course on that other forum you have to be tough as nails at times, but it is just what you are built for. Everything is brought to light in the end.
Just leave me out of the debates. :biggrin
God is a rewarder of those who do good and those who seek Him. I'm sure you are prayerful about everything and God knows your heart and sees everything you do. He gave everyone unique abilities and purpose. Bless both you and your wife. God sees everything and He remembers you.
Hello SV.
Yes, someone was asking elsewhere if we should assume David was righteous for killing his thousands, or Elijah just for killing the thousand priests of Baal. I brought up Phineas, and how the anger of the Lord is sometimes assuaged when his people act with the same zeal as He does to protect His people from spiritual destruction. So maybe that's the positive way to look at it:
1 Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab. 2 They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So Israel was joined to Baal of Peor, and the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel. 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of the people and hang the offenders before the Lord, out in the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may turn away from Israel.” 5 So Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Every one of you kill his men who were joined to Baal of Peor.”
6 And indeed, one of the children of Israel came and presented to his brethren a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 7 Now when Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from among the congregation and took a javelin in his hand; 8 and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stopped among the children of Israel. 9 And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.
10 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 11 “Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned back My wrath from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal. 12 Therefore say, ‘Behold, I give to him My covenant of peace; 13 and it shall be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.’” (Numbers 25:1-13)
When I think of David's zeal I don't think of the thousands of people he killed. How God looks at that I don't know. It is just something that had to be done.
True - there is no evil I'm what David has done. when what you are doing is for good and the Lord say it is good. No dares condemn.Under the New Covenant, it is Jesus blood that assauges the wrath of God. But I also think God was more sad with the death of the people, that this had to happen. Just like with Noah's Ark and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. He was exercising His justice. It is more "it had to be done."
When I think of David's zeal I don't think of the thousands of people he killed. How God looks at that I don't know. It is just something that had to be done.
What do you think, Sweetvineshema ?
