For those with Windows machines (which unfortunately is a large portion of our older population) the FBI warns that one has to be careful of downloading supposed videos and similar themes involving Bin Laden's death --- it may wreck havoc on Windows machines or a back door to identity theft.

Downloading videos, photos, text files, or anything is always a risk. Just opening a website is a risk. The internet is full of risk. Use good sense, don't open, download, or install anything you didn't expect or request, keep your anti-virus software up-to-date and functioning, don't give out personal information online, avoid using auto-fill browser features especially with credit card or other bank card information, etc.

Everyone thinks checking accounts are low risk. Take a look at your checks. Do they have your name, address, and phone number printed on them? How about your driver's license number and/or Social Security number? How about your banking institution's name and address? These are all common bits of information found on personal checks that can be used to steal your identity but there's other information even more valuable....your bank routing number and checking account number. I have made plenty of purchases using those two numbers and nothing more. No proof of identification required.

Ever use a credit card to reserve a hotel room or car rental? You've just given a total stranger your credit card number, expiration date, and your name. They could do the same thing without having the card in hand.
