"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
"I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
"And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” He said “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children". (Revelation 21: 1-7).
We read these verses and great joy wells up within us!! One day this will ALL be true!! It REALLY is going to come to pass! God is faithful and will fulfill every promise He has made to us!! But then the problems of life distract us, and we can soon forget this wonderful future that is before us as Christians. All tears, sorrow, crying and pain will be gone forever. God will make all things new and we will be his very children forever!!
I would like to make a suggestion--especially to newer Christians just getting started on the path: if you have some kind of "reminder" or "appointment maker" on your computer or phone, schedule in a time to read these verses---or preferably to read Revelation 21 and 22 in full. Set it for once a week or so. We need to keep reminding ourselves of what is to come--and not lose hope or joy. I make a point of reading these verses on a regular basis. It renews the joy! "What am I so down about? The problems of THIS life?? Look what is to come!!!" God bless you all!!
