Tears In Exile: Psalm One Thirty Seven:1-9, The Messiah's Invitation To The World
Isaiah Fifty Five:1-13

Psalm 137:1-9
1By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. 2We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. 3For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

4How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land? 5If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. 6If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

7Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof. 8O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. 9Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

Invitation to the Needy

1Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

2Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

3Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

4Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.

5Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.

6Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

12For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

13Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

What does Jerusalem mean?
Good question, I think by focusing or knowing what does Jerusalem mean in this context, here is my understanding of:

Psalm 137 is a hymn expressing the yearnings of the Jewish people during their Babylonian exile. In its whole form of nine verses, the psalm reflects the yearning for Jerusalem as well as hatred for the Holy City's enemies with sometimes violent imagery.

But what is your thinking of your question asked?

Messianic persons often view the city and the identity of isreal a bit different then a Christian .

In,whose identity are you found the God of Jerusalem or Jesus ?

Jesus Christ is our messiah, but why you ask?
Just curious in that ones identity is in Christ .while one can argue the being a complete Jew does but Christ is more then just one nation ,He is God .

The kingdom will have isreal but there is neither Greek nor jew.. My point is the new age will be so different then our live now.

No many speaking diferrentky nations ,one tounge, one identity in Jesus

Amen, so true, but in the book of Revelation talks about the New Jerusalem, I also remember when Jesus about those Jews that believed in Him, but what did it take for us to believe in Him?

this has been years ago for us to come this far, the things I had to surrender to Christ, He is still in the saving ministry.

I see that as a mystery. it might be an image, it might be literal given they show measurements. that is one big city if its real. yet it says God in His tabernacle shall dwell amongst men. hmm

Amen, that is a good thing about the LORD He shows no respect to persons with Him, at least that is what He says in John 3, whosoever! , in my thinking.

Unlike political movements which have caveat emptor,or catch 52.

See the blm moving which offers no reconciliation or forgiveness,or how their ideas are wanting .

For the people that have turned from the LORD or never was in His movements is pleasing their selves wanting power.
