I heard that a few times, I guess you all have as well, and the simple answer is No, no he cannot.

A design or creation can never be more powerful than the designer or creator.

God is not stupid so it is impossible for him to even think of something as pathetic as if he could make a rock bigger than he can lift, so it could never happen in reality.

God cannot question himself or ask himself such a dumb question so it is impossible.

There you go, the answer is No.

I think the notion of creating a rock that cannot be lifted is pointless; as God is omnipotent, I think this is an unlikely scenario.

ex: What does the color blue taste like?
God is omniscient and immutable. (meaning He would never undertake such a task)

BUT

God did create a door He cannot/will not open...(because his goodness will not allow it)

Thou shalt not put the Lord your God to the test...more accurately said as "overtempt"...IOW...leave me alone or else I will and you won't like the outcome.
Same thing was said by God to the Israelites in the desert when they began to whine way too much while sinning non-stop and said to God, :"Is God with us or not?"
I'm about sure that God wanted to say, "NOT" and be done with the lot of them.
God has more patience than any saint...but don't deliberately test it's limits.

Likewise: can God make a square circle? No, "a square circle" is just a nonsense set of words. The words don't become less nonsensical when you put the words "can God make" in front.
