Here's an eighth grade final exam from 1895. The language could cause some barriers. Some things that were common knowledge back then is outdated, or unused terminology today. Still, when your grandparents told you that they only have an eighth grade edumakation, I'll bet you thought them to be a lot less smarter than you. Try it, and see how you do. :eek I only have a GED, but I can tell by looking at it that my GED test was way easier.

On the other side of that, I've run into two completely separate people in my life that told me that the smartest person that they ever knew didn't know how to read or write. To quote an old rock song, that really makes me wonder. :Agsm

Some of those questions reminded me of the dreams I have when my blood-sugar is low ! ?

Blessings in Christ, Dave, and I wouldn't even wanna look, LoL.

I think the powers that be went to work on this country a long time ago to begin dumbing us down, just like they have in most other regions of the Western (i.e. Christian) world. I was talking to a friend who was about to give birth soon, and was surprised when she told me she planned on home-schooling. But I told her. "That's good, Carla! You do it" Her husband isn't Christian, but he's strongly anti-globalist establishment, and he had told her they would do a much better job educating their child themselves. They're both smart people, so I fully agree.

Any thoughts?

Blessings,

Information is old on things.

The republics of Europe are not the same as Prussia is no more . Italy is unified , Austria and Hungary are two separate nations . Germany is a bit different in that too.

Hidden, I agree with that. My sister pulled her youngest out of public school about ten years ago. They were teaching that Christianity was bad and the cause of all the worlds problems and promoting Islam. It's written right in the text books. It was so obvious these kids were being indoctrinated. The teachers didn't even teach, they would put in a DVD, press play, and stand in the hall or go to the teachers lounge, or even MacDonalds. Every day!!! Homeschooling is the only answer these days.

I remember we always used to say, if it gets that bad, where going to do this, and that. Guess what? We're there and then some. I feel guilty because I still watch TV, well, some of it. But still. I've learned a few things about our enemy over my lifetime, he goes after the young, and loves to use victimhood on anyone who will listen, and his tactics are usually death by a thousand cuts, not on the flesh, but on the mind. Little by little.

I'm going to go on record and say I'm not taking the test. I seen a guy on youtube who had two bachelors degrees and he scored a 61%. :woot300At least he passed.

LoL!!

That's about right. It's because a small percentage of the kids entering college these days can't even read yet, LoL. How's that for pushing them through the system? I bet the professors are just thrilled about that. Kids have to go through remedial courses before they can even take a class.

Anyway, I think it all works to the Lord's advantage for those who choose Him, because people realize how badly they've been played, and in some cases they start going after a knowledge of the things of God like a tiger that hasn't eaten in a month. Satan tries to delude and rob us, but when people finally find out there can be Hell to pay for it.

I watch a little. Mostly just a little sports now and then, when I have the time to relax. Nothing wrong with relaxing a little, so long as you don't live there perpetually and let your mind turn into a vegetable, LoL : )

I tried liking your post, but it doesn't work. It's the thought that counts though, right? :approve

College is even worse. Maybe that why. These kids are on a warpath with sanity itself.

Dave

warpath with sanity itself.
I blame the Dept. of Edu. and abandonment of following and believing the Biblical God.

I also blame the athiest's Trifecta of History - big bang/cosmic evo, biological evo, and earth being way over 6K years old.

liking your post, but it doesn't work.
Yeah, CF Net has glitched a bit lately.
If you have a "post error" in your replies or proably even main posts, it's posted but you dont see it right away. you need to refresh the page.
When it comes to reactions, idk.

Thanks for the heads up to both of you. We are just becoming aware of it ourselves, so looks like something we will have to dig into. :thumbsup2

Honestly in 1895 .let's see I know Florida history well..

South ,blacks would barely be able to read .locally state ,govt schools were sparse and illiteracy was a problem so much that the first county library building a woman's as well was first a private library to teach the illiterate children of all

A few Catholic schools were started locally .both are still open .

Blacks and the rosenwald school house .I will dig up my photos on one such school house and the a black elementary .it was started in 1901 .with graduates of the Bethune cookman school.

Based on what I'm seeing on tv, college is even worse. I hope they're not all that crazy. Some of these kids are on a warpath with sanity itself. Yikes.

There is definitely a dumbing down. I mean in 2024 the masses still dont know and cannot figure out how they built the pyramids thousands of years ago in the stone age, apparently they were so advanced and so intelligent everyone is so stupid these days they dont know how or any possibility they could have done it so they are calling themsleves dumb?. I mean really. Must have been alien technology or something. Lol.

I think home schooling is good as long as the child gets some sort of social interaction with others like at least join and play in a sports team or go to a church group or something where they can socialise with others.

People these days must be stupid if they believe wealthy people pay millions of dollars for art work, especially a banana duct taped to a wall. I mean come on it's obvious the wealthy are most probably money laudering and wealth transfers in the name of art thats been going on forever. No one pays 9.5 million dollars for a banana with a piece of tape stuck to a wall in thr name of art. It's like they not even trying to hide it anymore. That would be the most expensive banana I have ever seen for sale.
