I am curious about people's views on cessation. I do not believe in cessation, I think that the Holy Spirit stills works gifts in our lives today. I have seen people who speak in tongues, I have heard people who translate tongues. I have seen the power of the Spirit to heal the ill and I most definitely believe in the ability to prophecy, even today.

Actually, I think I have personally experienced the ability to speak in tongues, though it was through the baptism in the Holy Spirit, not as a gift. My personal gifts through the Holy Spirit appear to be an ability to discern God's Word and meaning, even without the Bible in hand.

I believe that the gifts of the Spirit still operate today. But I know for a fact that many teach that the gifts have cease. Many quote the following verse:
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
I Corinthians 13:10

They will say this is the Bible. While the Bible is perfect our understanding of the Word isn't.

I think I Corinthians 13:11-12 reveals this to be the Second Coming of Jesus.
11) When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12) For now we see through a glass, darkly; but them face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
I Corinthians 13:11-12

When we compare this with I John 3:1-2 I believe it show the gifts end at Christ Second Coming.

1) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
2) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doeth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is."
I John 3:1-2

For though who will say will Jesus already came, this is true and althought He was perfect, but because he took our sins upon Himself, He was not without sin (Hebrews 9:28, and II Corinthians 5:21). So although He was sinless, He became sin for us.

I believe the idea of cessation of The Holy Spirit working is more of a doctrine originating from the devil through the misguided, more than anything else.

Just as some claim that unless you speak in an unknown tongue then you don't have The Holy Spirit is an idea of the misguided.
