God is constantly guiding me in new directions as I develop new skills. Last week he told me to let my son go so he can grow up. Three days ago I was passed over for a volunteer program working with children. Yesterday, I was let go from a counseling program in which I taught non-Christians about self-esteem. Today, I let my psychologist go because he was upset that I could not afford to pay him. I asked for charity and he declined.
After the initial shock of all this, I began to get excited about what comes next. I secretly hoped God would send me on a trip. Then I met John from Kenya and he invited me to help him with the women in his parish and come visit them. "I have plenty of time," I said.
Today, I was meditating and Spirit told me to move past cognitive therapy and twelve step programs and get to the heart of the problem which causes so much suffering in people: a deeper understanding of how to balance the commands of the scripture with what we now know about how the brain works.
In Christian counseling the healer is Jesus Christ and the guide is the Holy Spirit. Susan acts as a mediator for the Holy Sprit. She interpretes your concerns in terms of what scripture says in combination with transpersonal psychology. Transpersonal means spirit led. She specializes is helping her clients come to terms with what the Bible commands and what we now know about what the brain and the spirit need to feel good about life. This includes healing the wounds of childhood and processing the pain and suffering of today.
There also many Christians who were traumatized by certain religious denominations who need healing in order to magnify their faith.
I am also hoping that if I actually get clients that the learned people on the board will consult with me.
I really hope this works out as I really think many modern Christians suffer because they think such outdated thoughts as we have to be "perfect." I learned from Jeff on this site that God wants to perfect us but, we don't have to be perfect. Rather we are to be "perfectly imperfect" and live in the "shadow of God's perfection."
