What Christian holidays are there in the New Testament that we celebrate or should celebrate?
I would love to hear what you all have to say.

Hm...the only ordinance it mentions is Communion...and baptizing...which aren't holidays.
Don't think it commands us to have any holidays. We came up with those ourselves.

Should we pick certain occasions for holidays because of what Scripture says or rather teaches us?

I believe Jesus purposely kept dates of events from us so we would not worship days and times.
But we read in Rom 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
If you read what is being spoke of as being weak, it pertains to observing days, and not eating certain foods.
Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
And notice Rom 14:3 . . . . . God hath received him.

Even things that were meant to be against Paul he rejoiced in that Christ was preached. Why would we protest such occasions where the near total world hears of Jesus' birth and death for instance?
Php 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

I was thinking more in line sort of like Purim.
The story of Purim is in the Bible, the Jews today celebrate it more than any other Holiday, Jesus celebrated it, but God did not sanction it.

Could Christians have a holiday?
Yes, they could but they choose not to.
I'm referring to Pentecost.
I believe it could and should be celebrated by the church as the birth of Christianity.
A time to wave the Christian flag and testify to the world who we are.
June is a great time of year to have outdoor celebrations.

Yes, some churches do celebrate Pentecost but it is not celebrated as it was in the past and it is not referred to as a Christian holiday.If we only had the joy to celebrate what God has done for us the way the Jews do over Purim.

I went to a Greek church festival yesterday.
I've never seen such celebration on church grounds before.
It was terrific.
When these Christians celebrate, they celebrate!

My current and previous churches do not celebrate Pentecost.
Both pastors told me the same thing.
It is an Old Testament Jewish Holiday and as Christians we have no need to recognize them.

Lately, it's been bothering me that churches sing "God bless America" and "God bless our troops" every Memorial Day and Independence Day but make no mention of Pentecost.

There really isn't one.

We have created some but Jesus was against legalism in every sense. So He instituted none...but He also knew we would create some but didn't prohibit them in advance.

No dear, I mean Pentecost.
It's called the Feast of Weeks.
Exodus 23:16
Exodus 34:22
Numbers 28:26
Deuteronomy 16:10.
