DISPROVE/PROVE SOUL SLEEP INSIDE SOUL/SPIRIT AFTER DEATH

I believe only our bodies are sleeping,
and our souls/spirit are with the Lord in heaven after we die.
Then on judgment day,
only then do our bodies become resurrected.
I think it should be called "body sleep." ;)

Your job is to disprove my belief with scripture,
and disprove each others.... or agree.

My scripture

Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Matthew 27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

Lk 16:22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

Luke 23:43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Luke 23:46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.

Acts 7:59-60 And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

2 Co 5:6-8 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Philippians 1:23-24 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.

Rev 6:9-11 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and cavenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.

It is a smooth transition from the physical realm into heaven. Jesus has taken the sting out of death. Glory to God! One day our bodies will be like Jesus. They will be able to walk through doors and still be able to eat. The scripture says if the Devil had known all of this, He would had never allowed Jesus to be crucified!

Urk, this is why I was confused the other day! It IS as you say. I was not being clear enough the last time we spoke on this. I and a lot of other teachers call this our temporal body, until we get our resurrection bodies(Bema seat).

You confused me the other day the way you explained it and I confused you the way I explained it. Your spot on.

gr8grace I was confusing others because I didn't educate myself on soul sleep topic, then it hit me. Our body is just the place where our souls/spirits reside. Our souls/spirits will always be alive, even after death. I was confused until I started searching for truth, and so I found it. It does feel good to grow in scripture and learn. Blessings.
