Cultivating a love for the truth
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2Thessalonians 2:9-12
- Do we love the truth?
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
- Jesus Christ is the truth.
- Every word that proceeds out of his mouth is the truth.
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32
The fullness of the truth is expressed through:
- His Gospel,
- His Doctrine
- His Commandments.
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 1:9
His doctrine is just as important to him as His Gospel.
We must all learn to obey His Doctrine, His Gospel and His Commandments.
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-8
For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:16-17
- Obeying the truth whether it’s His Gospel, His Doctrine, or His Commandments is a salvation issue.
Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20
And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. Hebrews 5:9
The choice we all have as Christians is to obey the truth or obey unrighteousness. At the end of the proverbial day, we will all give an account to the Judge for our deeds.
But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath. Romans 2:5-8

Promoting heresy is a work of the flesh just like murder, idolatry, and sorcery.
Those who promote Heresies will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
Heresy like murder or idolatry or sexual immorality, or any other sin must be repented of; confessed as sin to God in order to be forgiven and cleansed of all unrighteousness. See 1 John 1:9
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. 2 Timothy 2:15-18
- Heresy and false teaching can indeed cause damage to others, even overthrow their faith, as Paul teaches -

False doctrine, Heresy is a serious thing to God and is a salvation issue.
Those who promote Heresy will not inherit the kingdom of god, if they don't repent.
Heresy is just as serious as murder, sorcery, and idolatry, as Paul so plainly teaches...
