Does It Irritate You....

Does it ever irritate you when you post things and people do not take the time to read the entirity of your posts? Or is it wrong to feel ignored when this happens? How do you respond to what you may feel to be ignorance without being beligerant?

I admit sometimes I skim over the very long posts. But your posts are never very long! I would think your posts never get skimmed over.

Personally I don't always take the time to read long posts. Usually people make long posts to try and make a point, but use several sources that basically say the same thing. Less is more, but I'm guilty too.

Guess you could say it is a real pet peeve of mine. For at times people have up and said they have not read my posts then presume to feel they know everything I said and argue with them. It just irks me. Was mostly curious if anyone else had this problem and how they go about dealing with it generously.

Undoubtably we are all guilty of miscommunication. I know I am.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes I'll just write back and say, "Huh? Have you notice, such and such, etc." ;) :halo If ya know what I mean? ;) ;)

In regard to feeling ignored... Well, that is a likely tendency that must be dealt with within the context of being in any forum. Not everyone is going to pay attention. So sometimes, as the old saying goes, gotta just, "let it be" .


And in regard to being irked. well, after being here for about 5 years., well, I have still to learn that bickering with people is only going to lead to bigger problems. After the third time, if the problem isn't resolved, then I'll not continue. Many times to ignore a post or to just walk away with out response is all that is left to do. No hard feelings, just what has to be done, at times. Other times..... standing your ground is crucial, especially IF there are false accusations against you. I just pray that in the end of all matters that truth comes to light for those involved, including me, IF I was wrong or irked unrighteously, I would hope that correction be the final outcome. It's all about the Lord, not me. If my "personal" feelings get in the way, I pray that in the end of all matters, the truth be revealed to all those who are involved. The Lord is the victor and the revealer of truth in all matters. AND that is all the matters to me.

Of course we are all human and still growing and maturing from all of that happens in our lives. And we all have some bouts with temporary stubbornness. However, it's when there is a stubborn spirit that insists on holding onto taking things personally and not ever letting go, constantly bickering, constantly taking offense at things that should be let go of.... holding onto things rather than letting God take care of situations... Sometimes we just have to leave it be and let go of "it". God will prevail in the end of all matters. We gotta get it in our heads, that God will deal with all matters. He takes it all and turns it out for His Glory to shine through in the end of it all. Yes, even that which has been taken personally as an insult or as a personal affront what "seems" to have been deliberate as meant for harm. We can't really tell what others are intending or how they are intending to relay something. We can only guess. And if we read something wrongly or think someone is ignoring us, then that is a "personal" issue that must be dealt with. It may not even be the other person at all. And figure, it all will be settled one way or the other. WE have to be willing to let go and let God. I believe that it all works out in the end. The book of Revelation Chapter 22 guarantees that to those who are willing to Let Go and Let God, know that He will deal with it all. God will even deal with the unjust, be that unjust person ourselves or another, God will deal with it in the end of all matters. I'm not gonna worry anymore about lengthy bickering with myself or others over matters. It's too draining, and so, after the third time of trying to settle things with myself or with them I have to just say that's enough. I'll not bicker about this. I'll not allow myself to wonder if it's me or them. I' just have to let go.... Time will reveal truth of it all. Don't worry. God's will be done, not my will, not my vengeance, not my way, but ONLY GOD'S WILL BE DONE IN THE END OF ALL MATTERS. What "I" think or want from it all is of no matter, because God will determine the end of all matters.

This helps me to let go and Let God:

God has the last word in all matters. Many times We just have to let go what "appears to be" a huge irk to us. :yes Don't fret for too long about anything, allow yourself to let go... God will deal with it. :yes :D

Humans have the attention span of a gnat. Unless it has catchy pics and catchy words we tend to get bored real fast. I remember posting an ad one time with very specific words about my van - they emailed me back asking the very question about my van that I posted in bold letters about LOL. The person phoned me back and we had a laugh because he said he really didn't read whole ad LOL. So don't take it personal friend - I use to also take it personal but now I chalk it up to Humanity's flaws LOL

I rarely write long posts, and I usually ignore posts that are too long, or I just skim over them because of the length. Some people are just too long winded--even when writing. I also ignore posts that are not properly punctuated, or have too many grammatical or spelling errors.

To answer the question: I do wonder why I bother posting things that are either totally ignored or get very few replies. Apparently, I don't post anything that interests very many. If something interests me, I can't help but reply to it. If it doesn't, I ignore it. Since I usually get someone telling me how wrong I am, I often wonder why I bother replying.

The site is clear on how to deal with long posts and it's for the benefit of all.

9 - Please keep posts down to a respectable length and provide source and/or links for your info. We want to respect copyrighted material. Plus, you stand a better chance of getting your post read if it contains a link with an excerpt from source that's relative to your point....

As an Admin, I can only hope and pray that members read other posts a bit more carefully. It would alleviate many of the misunderstandings and misquotes we have here at times.

If something interests me, I can't help but reply to it. If it doesn't, I ignore it. Since I usually get someone telling me how wrong I am, I often wonder why I bother replying.

Now that is a sentiment I can truly relate to. Understandably we all will not see eye to eye on everything, but having fingers pointed calling or implying rather rude things of one another gets old very fast. Not to mention tends to make it hard for some of us not to lose our tempers or be pushed to such. Guess that is about the time when a break is needed. Maybe that is what is needed when the steam starts to rise? Right...?

I will not lie, I get passionate.....sometimes very much so...but when it comes to having people imply I am against the very beliefs I try to live by....it hurts. So much to the point where I feel uncomfortable sharing. Has that happened to you too? I apologize if I am pressing too much into a delicate matter...I do not want to stir up any anger. Rather I am trying to seek counsil or perhaps learn from other's experience here.

I too have grown very passionate when speaking to people online, on this board and others, especially with those that seek to tear down the faith. In some instances, I have found the "ignore" function to be helpful in guarding myself against attacks and doubt-filled skepticism.

And yes, sometimes a break is called for. I took a permanent break from one online "Christian" community that I had been active in for years, and will never go back there. The moderation was a joke and I figured that there comes a point when you have too many people on ignore to make it worth visiting the site.

I try not to get irritated about things like this anymore. I don't know what's going on behind someone else's computer screen, and if they are like me they are inturrupted constantly with work or children and have difficult time staying focused with life goin on. Some people just have a hard time hearing/listening to others, and I am like this as well so I try to read everything well and pray before I respond now. I am proned to make mistakes, though, and sometimes I read others wrong...projecting things that aren't there. If people skim, I dont mind, and I usually just try to point to the part of the post that they didn't read, or misunderstood...maybe they are just short on time, or they are like me and having a moment of cluelessness. When I do get upset with someone, I can usually trace the problem to myself and my own emotions and conduct. The times when I have soul-searched and I find it's not me, then I leave it to God to show them their mistake somewhere down the line like He has shown me mine. If people are rude, or breaking the rules, then I leave it to the moderators to handle, and try to respond with love anyway. Just my thoughts.

It used to irritate me quite a bit. But after dealing with things like I have for the last year with this degenerative neruomuscular disease, I can tell you there are more important things to get upset about. Keep it in perspective of everything else. Keep it in perspective of the Overwhelming Love of God. Keep it in perspective of everything God's done for us and every time we've fallen short. In the end its a choice to get irritated and we don't really have the right to justify ourselves and choose to be irritated.
