Education professionals say the darndest things

We all love or at least respect our professors but there are just some times when you wonder if it is safe to let some of these people loose on society's young minds. Days when they say things that make no sense, or things that are just gut bustingly funny, or things that make you look at your neighbor in class and ask "did he really just say that?" Here is a thread in which to share these lovely moments. To start, heard today the first day of classes in my American Government class:

"I just like to say 'bestial tendancies' - it sounds cool"
and
"I will give you some potatos and carrots and you will keep my house from being run over by knights and horses." <-- her brief explanation of fudalism

I once had a sociology professor tell me that drinking beer while watching the super bowl was worse than shooting up heroin. Let me tell you that was one crazy fruitcake.
