it doesnt say the watchman will die . he will have to bear the responsibility of warning.. imo in today standards we should warn our family friends of the coming judgment and how to escape that judgement it goes to preacher to warn his congregation if he fails to do so out of neglect he stands in judgment..but not deathEzekiel is warned that if he does not warn people about turning from there sin and they die in their iniquity, that that person's blood will be required from the watchman's (Ezekiel's) hand.
So does that mean the watchman will die?
Yup.Ezekiel is warned that if he does not warn people about turning from there sin and they die in their iniquity, that that person's blood will be required from the watchman's (Ezekiel's) hand.

but we do know God was very serious in the o.t Physical death did take place for not obeying . so in them days the watchmna could be put to death.but in this side of Grace we stand in judgment..
Yup.
In this case, the watchman is specifically appointed for the purpose of warning the people.
If he fails to do so, and calamity follows, he will be put to death.
o.t no doubt it would be death.. we are all watchman how times have we failed to warn . naboth refused to compromise he refused to sell his vineyard . how many times just in our family alone have we failed to warn...? in my early years of marriage i had a good friend shot 8 times by his stepdad.. then the wife bro drown.. my mom told me the hand writing was on the wall -i was warnedHmmm. The "calamity" itself would likely lead to the watchman's own death, would it not? It's kinda hard to be complacent in a life or death situation.
The passage in Ezekiel is such a great word picture, largely because of this! It illustrates the inner compassion we are to have, in a very outwardly visible way in the story. If the watchman were to survive his failure of duty and being put to death was mandatory as you state, that certainly goes along with this.
I always held "blood required of his hand" to refer to eternal judgment, but that may well reflect my NT understanding and this is one of those OT harsh realities I missed. Interesting topic ...
Consider that a Roman soldier found asleep while on guard would be put to death.Hmmm. The "calamity" itself would likely lead to the watchman's own death, would it not? It's kinda hard to be complacent in a life or death situation.

The guards of prisons would be put to death if their prisoners escaped.(Acts 12:18-19)
Today, sleeping on guard duty is a court martial offense and, in war time, could bring the death penalty.
No. They actually got a pass.Yeah, so about that stone being rolled away ...
I'm thinking more than a few folks got hung out to dry over that one?
I Corinthians 3:14 KJVYup, I'm just wondering how well the old Jews pleading on behalf of dereliction of duty went over ... always seemed like a plot leak to me, lol. Easy enough to just "reassign" those responsible elsewhere and then whack 'em, away from the Jews.
I'd rather believe those soldiers got saved though!
Back to Ezekiel's watcher on the wall, does dereliction of duty there in any way implicate judgment before God's throne?
