Fasting is the most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. Through fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit can transform your life.

Fasting and prayer can also work on a much grander scale. According to Scripture, personal experience and observation, I am convinced that when Jesus's people fast with a proper Biblical motive-seeking Jesus's face not His hand-with a broken, repentant, and contrite spirit, Jesus will hear from heaven and heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation and world. Fasting and prayer can bring about revival - a change in the direction of our nation, the nations of earth and the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
 
I can't go more than 4 hours without eating because I have hypoglycemia and I'd pass out. I had to pull over while I was driving yesterday because my blood sugar dropped so low that I was having a hard time driving straight.

So not everyone is able to fast.
 
I have noticed when some people fast, instead of giving up food, they fast by giving up something else they really like.

Do you think this is true fasting?
 
no anyone can give up oh say Watching TV or playing Video games.

But to not eat. Eating is a nesscesity. TV video games, shopping is not.

so no it is not true fasting in my opinion.

how ever like been said not all people can fast due to health probs. so in a way yes it can be a form of fasting. :D

but still i dont agree on that :wink:

But as long as you fast for a few hours it would be ok read the Old Testament about fasting you don't have to fast for 40 days and night like Jesus, you can fast from sun up til sun down or for as long as you can, its not so much the fasting as such but your heart, and your willingness to do so that counts.

JESUS CHRIST said we would fast ,But I have found it takes at least 3 full days of water only ,to cause our spirits or you can say inner man to take control over our flesh .
Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Mat 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Mat 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

fasting for less than 3 days ,I think does little .The purpose of fasting is too bring your inner man ,to the place,he can take control .The flesh must be weaknened .as long as we feed it .it controls the inner man pretty much .all desires you have toward the LORd ,come from the inner man .When you die?He is the one that goes to the LORD in NEW JERUSALEM .
GOD is aSPIRIT ,We are spirits
We need to live though our spirits .
The flesh will always sin ,if we let it control our lifes !
