Since I'm gone all weekend long, family time has had to be very 'quality' this summer. Practically every night we've opted to keep the TV off and play games together. Either bocce or catch outside or board games indoors. I just got the game of Life last week and the kids are loving it. I've forgotten how goofy the game gets especially when there is a doctor, a lawyer and somebody knocks over a car and the kids spill out. :-D

I've loved board games ever since I was a kid and we didn't have TV. I used to cheat at Candyland. No seriously, at the ripe old age of 4, I begged to shuffle, figured out which turn would be mind and stack the deck with the really good cards like the Butter Brickle Road one. I thought everyone but me had forgotten about it until my sister started spilling the beans to my kids when they were telling her about playing Life. Now my kids won't let it go, their mother the cheat!

So, what's your family's favorite board game?
PS, I know that technically Yahtzee isn't a 'board' game, but it's still one of the best games ever. I couldn't leave it off the list.

Ohhh, I love chess. The only thing is my husband wont play with me and the kids aren't good enough to give me a good game.

What! No one picked Monopoly but me? Oh well, I'm from NJ so it's only natural. :-D

Dora, when you play Yahtzee, do you play the whole card? Try it, it enhances the strategy. 8-)

Yeah I thought of you, vic, when I put down Monopoly. Monopoly is Steve's favorite game. He always wins, except when our daughter cuts him out. I never win at Monopoly. I enjoy playing it, I just never win.

I win Yahtzee a lot. When we play with the kids, we play standard Yahtzee, but when Steve and I play together it's always triple Yahtzee. Play 3 columns in the game, but all scores in the second column are x2 and all scores in the third column are x3. By careful strategy, one can make full use of all rolls and really rack up the points. My highest scoring game in Triple Yahtzee so far is 2235.

John, I've never played on-line before but may this winter when things have settled down, we can do so. I'll have to brush up on my game, I haven't played in years.

Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Boggle, card games, Taboo. Of the list I like Yahtzee...

I don't play board games very often, but I like scrabble.

Same here.
My wife can talk me into a game but it's never my idea to play.
I will grudgingly play Trivial Pursuit.
We used to play Taboo and Pictionary at parties.
If you've never heard of Taboo; it's great fun.

Thanks, David.. next time I'm in walmart or somewhere like that i'll check it out and see what it's like. Been a long time since we've bought a board game.
