I have repeatedly heard men and women say, that we are all human and sexual sins cannot be easily overcome.

Just recently I have been thinking of this aspect of fidelity and faithfulness.

God is faithful. What if God was not true to his word, in letting the sun shine, the rain fall, the animals to develop and all the other things that we depend on God for.

I believe the same way men and women who will make up their minds that they will not steal, smoke weed or rob a bank....why then can't they make up their minds that they will not engage in loose sexual activity. I believe that in today's world we have trivialised marriage and sex. Many of us would never think of reneging on a legal document where our signature is affix, but we will not be serious about our marriage.

I think that many of us have come to the conclusion that sex (since it is personal...most of the time I think sex is done in the privacy of one's place, house motel etc. We have come to believe that sex is OUR PRIVATE BUSINESS, but we must all understand that SEXUALITY IS GOD'S BUSINESS too.
Recently I have been going through the book of Ezekiel 16 and I saw how serious God views ADULTERY which he equates with IDOLATRY. God castigated Israel for her unfaithfullnes and at one point told Israel she was like a woman who OPENED HER FOOT TO EVERYONE THAT PASSED BY. This is serious imagery here, and God does not hide his words. He is very plain speaking. Until we as a people particulary Christians come to see the seriousness of sexual sin we will incur God's wrath. I believe that God views sexual sin serious. Marriage. is liken to the church and Christ's love for it. I believe that marriage should not be taken lightly nor should sex be trivialised. I told a friend of mine sometime ago, that If I get marriedI again I want a man who is faithful as a Christian, she felt I was being unreasonable. Girl, she said, men are human, THEY WILL MAKE MISTAKES. If this is the kind of mindset we have no wonder the problem of failed marriages will continue.

Lamentations 3.23

Your fixation with women and tattoos says a lot about you. You have quoted scripture which shows God's forgiveness and love.. I have no problem with that...BUT God hates loose sexual behaviour and we should to..BUT by doing this you are ignoring the point I was making in the OP. Why could you not make a comment on the evils of sexual sin. I really dont know you...but your posts say a lot about you. I am always amazed at folks who do not like to deal with the issue at hand.

You quoted scripture I will quote some. 1 Corinthian 6.9

An old proverb from Barbados...A GUILTY CONSCIENCE NEEDS NO ACCUSER.

Great verse, 1 Corinthians 6.9.

My purpose in quoting the well known reference to Lamentations 3.23, speaking of God's great faithfulness, was to show how God is strongly identified with faithfulness, and values it. So should we. :)

A simple reference, that I thought was generally relevant.

Blessings.

Like I said, my idea of quoting Lamentations 3.23, which speaks of faithfulness, was with a view to being supportive of your comments.

Blessings.

Well said. I totally agree. Today's mindset of 'girl, men are only human and will make mistakes...' is a defeatist attitude and sets them up for failure. So is the attitude of girls should be allowed to play the field before getting married. I have heard it said that girls should have a minimum of 6 to 8 sexual partners before 'settling down'...what kind of talk is that? It totally dis-respects God and the Marriage union. I've heard young guys say 'I want to get as many virgins as possible...'. One guy seen me frown when he said it and said what? Like it was a good thing to do. I asked him if he fools around with Married women too, to which he said no, but so and so is fourteen and not married...I said hey, that's someones future Wife. Don't take advantage of her.

I have to agree with you. This kind of attitude sets them up for failure in their own marriage, plus the committing of adultery would not mean anything to them.

Abide, it is all about taking responsibility, and men and women of the last two or even three generations, at least in the US, have been bombarded messages that nothing is their fault, that is was what their parents, their teachers, their friends, their economic conditions, their social order -- all those factors -- have "done" to them. The fact is, any of those sins is "hard" to beat if the person suffering under those sins is not willing to accept that, ultimately, the responsibility for either doing or not doing lies entirely within themselves.

Danny Trejo is an actor who was part of an LA street gang, running drugs out of Mexico for them, when he was a teenager and young adult. He did a five year stretch in San Quentin on drug charges. In prison, he became a Christian, and determined to help street youth avoid the traps he laid for himself. In fact, starting that ministry is what got him into acting, but that's another story. He has a video of him address youth offenders in Los Angeles County. I can't find it on YouTube or I'd post it, but there is one that speaks directly to what I'm saying.

He tells the young men: "I don't care how bad your parents were, I don't care how 'crooked' the cops are, I don't care how incompetent your public defender was, I don't care how much the DA hates you, I don't care how unfair the judge was -- the reason you are here is you! And you are the only one who can either keep you out or put you back is you! Until you understand that, you are doomed to be in and out of prison as long as you remain stupid!"

It is the same with all these sins, but particularly sexual sin. Just as the young men don't want to admit that, with hard work and determination, they can break the gang cycle and stay out of trouble, men (and many women, too) don't want to admit that giving their life to Christ completely -- not just paying lip service to faith and service -- is the only way they are going to break the cycle of sexual sin. Great post, Abide! Thanks.
