<style type="text/css"> <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } A:link { so-language: zxx } --> </style> I grew up in Texas with a rifle on my sholder and a pistol on my hip. I served 8 years in the US Army and for 30 months I earned my wage killing the enemy to keep them from killing me, my men, my pilots and my friends and often to prevent them from preventing my and 5 other helicopters from loading 42 and often more men and move them out of danger. When I returned home I carried a .45 cal. Pistol on my front seat for the approaching Officer to see and request to examine when he stopped me.

Before I went to Vietnam I murdered a lot of Coke Can and a few non-refundable bottles as I sharpened my skills... oh, and a couple of Rattle Snakes I'm sure because in Texas we eat them and a couple might have lived... I couldn't find them when I dismounted. After I came home I will admit to picking the 45 up off the seat and pointing it at the roof of my car when one Yankee waqs going to “teach me how to drive†in downtown Houston. I couldn't have shot him, he was out of range before I could stop laughing.

When the new Yankee Texans managed to join the, up 'til then, out voted Texans against one defending themselves and managed the, squeeky, vote to change the law I sold that pistol and bought a .38 to keep in my house. Point? I'm tired!

USA 4.7 @ http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/murder-rates-nationally-and-state
Australia 3.68 and USA 4.8 @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
I'm tired of intentional ignorance! Knee Jerk reactions are the source of stupid decisions and that is what is happening in this nation... right now! I just saw on FNC that the murder rate with the AR 15 is less than .07% of the murdered. Now, in Australia the population density is less than in the US. (To the best of my knowledge.) The numbers of per capita murdered is just .02% over the 1% difference and in the US we have the right to carry a concealed hand gun in many places.

When we look into Florida @ http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/Content/FSAC/Menu/Crime-Trends/Violent-Crime.aspx we find that the law arming the citizens has made a remarkable difference in their Crime Rate, it still looks to be falling proving that guns protect people and that cowards kill people.

Just food for thought.

Mr. Taylor, let another Vietnam Vet give you some advice. Trade in the 38 and get an M50 machine gun like our door gunners used. Much more practical if our economy collapses. Do you remember the 70's bumper sticker? Outlaw guns and only outlaws will have guns.

I held the Butter-Fly on my M60 every time we were airborne and yes, I remember that Bumper Sticker well. I changed weapons for a number of reasons but the kicker was stopping the projectile on impact and not killing somebody outside the house, My .38 is loaded with 150 grain Wad Cutters. They will spin a man until he is drunk when hit off center and the bullet just stops in his body. It's a very safe round for home protection.

We're clear left and on the Tail Rotor.
