When was that? I spent countless hours guard duty on the outest part of a runway in Cape Cod just because when they gave me a rifle to guard an entrance to the flight line I drew down on departing pilots trying to get to their planes and scramble to intercept incoming enemies without identifying themselves. Oh the shame of someone just doing their duty. These same intercepting squadrons were the ones dispersed to do something about those attacking airlines on 911. What was going on in my head? I was mad at the duty I had drawn, and no amount of intruding officers were going to bluff me.

HONOR yes, at least in my mind; satisfaction no. Someone give me a gun.

There are a handfull of pins and patches I wore and can still wear as combat trophies not included. I tried for a broad spectrum and, still, so many would not fit.

I only wear federal awards on my asu.I didn't loose my regimental affliation with the mp corps after the switch to transportation. I figured that would go.

This background was discovered on a Google Image search and with no watermark, I adjusted the curves and the levels. Then adding two additional layers I added the aircraft, followed bu one final layer and I dumped a bucket of black, adjusted the opacity of that layer to just over 60% and added the tracers and the message.View attachment 9347

Any Combat Vet already knows why Veteran's Paintings and Digital Arts have that Other World feel to them. I have viewed a large number of them and have yet to see anything that looks like real. If you were to gain access to our photos you would become horrified at the pictures with skulls that are mounted on spikes with NVA Officer's caps smoking cigarettes and many other less socially acceptable things. But you see, we did not exist in the same world then and neither do any today other than what I would know as a Saigon Warrior. But you see, they run around pretending they know all about life under the muzzles of a bunch os guns, but they lie. But if they ait down and they paint, write music or tell a story, nobody from "the world"thinks them odd, marking them as liars.

I remember nothing, to this day that is not abstract or black & white, without any color, even my best friend's head as it looked at me. I will never create a piece that shows that event and neither will any of us but shrinks find our art telling, as if they know anything, they also, are liars.

The night Paul was blown up I was an Atheist and for the next twenty-two years + I was a deist, convinced God was tormenting me before He would send me to Hell. He had to dismiss three Bar Fly wives and take me down to a bicycle with two May-Pop Tires before He broke my heart, causing me to submit and follow. Without the war I might still be lost.

And if I ever hear another person having the exact same combat experiences, even about the same incident, I know he is guilty of stolen valor. We all, every one of us sees differently. i.e. As I write my book, I remember two names, mine and Paul's. With an average of 3.5 dead every week we did not hold funerals and we did not move their cups up on a rack, we threw the cups in the trash, where they belonged and we never knew them, they never were. Had that been the practice in the 15th TC, I would never have known Paul and, likely, never would have had the nightmares. Combat is stupid but until Jesus returns to reign, it will be required and as long as it is required, it will ruin the lives of young men. Simple but brutal!
