Though I'm not Christian, I grew up in the church, and I've always had a major interest in the diversity of beliefs and doctrines in Christianity. I've been assigned a "Magnum Opus" for my Third Year Writing class, essentially a twenty page objective and balanced look at why people are attracted to specific genre, be it Harry Potter novels, pornography, a TV show or a religious following. I've decided to write about the Word of Faith movement in Christianity, and I need to get a general survey of the followers. Would you answering these questions? I want to make this paper as fair as possible, so it would be great if everyone could answer honestly. If you don't want this information to be public, you could direct message or eMail me. I don't need any names, and if I have specific questions I'll open another post.

Also, this post is intended for Word of Faith followers only. If you don't consider yourself such but want to answer these questions anyway, feel free, but please state that in your replies so I don't get the responses mixed up :)

14. Do you believe in Word of Faith?
Yes
No
I’ve never heard of that
Short Answer: No, I do not believe the teachings of the Word of Faith movement are Biblical, espeically the prosperity teachings.

15. Describe any supernatural religious experience you may have had.
Well anything that comes from God, is kinda supernatural by many peoples' eyes, although I wouldn't call it that. I talk to God through prayer, and I feel His presence in my life, and I feel His Holy Spirit guiding me. If you think that's 'supernatural', then that's fine by me.

16. How would you describe the “ideal†Christian sermon.
There's not many "requirements" that I see for an "ideal" sermon. It obviusly has to be grounded in the Bible, and needs to keep referring back to the Bible (ideally one or two passages that the sermon is based off) to make its points. Ideally, it will have an explanation of the passage - including its context and meaning, and an application for us today.

17. When can a religious sermon go wrong?
When it strays from the Truth.

18. What draws you to the Word of Faith doctrine?
It's what they believe that keeps me away.

19. Are there any pastors whose sermons you are drawn to besides your home pastor? Who are they?
I'm drawn to nearly all sermons that I've listened to, and they're all in different stages of my life that it's hard to come up with a list. Some I can't remember their names, but one recently that really helped me understand the role of women in the church was Paul Grimmond. He did a series of talks on Timothy. He's a pretty awesome guy, so I'll say him as he's in my mind at the moment.

20. Do you believe that prosperity is vital to the Christian walk?
Spiritual prosperity - yes. But prosperity here on earth - health, financial etc that is not Biblcially based. Yes, God does bless people with financial and physical prosperity in this world, but overall the Christian Walk is a narrow and tough road, full of persecution and suffering for the Truth. Christians do the yard yakka, that much is clear from the Bible.
