Former Christian of no fixed belief now, more Deist than anything.

Hi, I was a strong Christian for most of my life (now 45), but have recently moved to a position where I no longer believe the Bible is inerrant and reliable as a source of historical truth and depiction of who or what God is. This is the result of having researched the religio-philosophical 'Problem of Evil' and the inability of traditional theodicies to, in my view, provide a convincing answer. This has been a subject of intense interest for me over the last 18 months or so.

If I was to give myself a label I'd say I'm now somewhat of a classical Deist. I am not an atheist.

I've mainly come here to get your thoughts to a number of questions I want to ask to explore and probe into this subject more from the Christian perspective.

Hi Wombledin and welcome to CF.net. Deism will be considered a belief other than Christianity and subject to the following Terms of Service rules we have. Big thing to me is to not put down Christianity or promote Deism.

If you have sincere questions as to the reason we believe as we do, I sure hope we can give satisfactory evidence using scripture, but I believe you are aware that faith is the factor missing in most religions. I do hope this works for you. :wave

2.1: This is a Christian site, therefore, any attempt to put down Christianity and the basic tenets of our Faith will be considered a hostile act. Please read: Statement of Faith

2.2: No active promotion of other Faiths is allowed:

You will not post any messages; links, images or photos that promote a religion or belief other than Biblical and historical Christianity (atheism is considered a "belief" for the purposes of this rule). Discussing these doctrines are fine, as long as the beliefs are not actively promoted.

Non-Christians will not create threads inviting members to ask them about their belief systems such as "Ask the Atheist" or "Ask the Agnostic". Such threads are seen as a means to promote other faiths.

hello Wombledin and welcome. You are just the type of person I want to connect with, looking forward to talking with you bouncing questions and answers off of one another thank you for being here.

Hi W, good to see you. I can only encourage you to read a chapter such as John 1, in order to see clearly Who the Bible says the Lord Jesus is. This, really, is the issue: being challenged from the Scriptures about the Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son, the Way, the Truth and the Life.
