The Wuhan bio lab that was the centre of controversy surrounding gain of function research on coronaviruses appears to have been carrying out the same kind of research on monkeypox, to make it more lethal to humans, according to a report citing the peer reviewed journal Virologica Sinica which published the lab’s findings in February.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology assembled a monkeypox virus genome, allowing the virus to be identified through PCR tests, using a method researchers flagged for potentially creating a “contagious pathogen,” The National Pulse can reveal.

Just in time for November!

Just as news of the first monkeypox case found in the U.S. broke, the Biden administration ordered 13 million doses of a vaccine that protects against both monkeypox and smallpox

The World Health Organisation is warning that summer festivals and mass gatherings could accelerate the spread of monkeypox in the first indication that health technocrats may once again attempt to impose restrictions in the name of stopping the spread of a virus.

Wow, Joe Biden has ordered 13 million doses of a vaccine for Monkey Pox. Where is he ordering this vaccine from?

Which country?

I doubt it's going to be a large impact. The pox doesn't spread like the catona or rhino viruses. So it will probably have a couple cases here and there. Also the picture is probably just a stock image for monkey pox.

Ok.

If there is an outbreak to warrant the purchase of 13 million doses then there should be plenty of actual cases of the virus to take pictures of.

Probably, we will more than likely see more photos as the story develops and is covered.

This was not "gain of function" work. From the link:
As an efficient tool for assembling large DNA fragments up to 592 kb in length (Gibson et al., 2008), TAR assembly has become essential for preparing infectious clones of large DNA/RNA viruses. Using pGF as a TAR vector, Shang et al. assembled a synthetic baculovirus with a genome length of more than 145 kb (Shang et al., 2017). To establish a reverse genetics system for SARS-CoV-2, a joint team successfully assembled the full-length cDNA clone of SARS-CoV-2 in less than a week using TAR assembly (Thi Nhu Thao et al., 2020). However, this DNA assembly tool applied in virological research could also raise potential security concerns, especially when the assembled product contains a full set of genetic material that can be recovered into a contagious pathogen. Recently, a group of scientists was funded by a biotech company to synthesize a full-length horsepox virus genome and recover it into an infectious virus (Noyce et al., 2018). Not surprisingly, such a controversial achievement has received enormous attention and raised global debate on its biosecurity implications (DiEuliis et al., 2017; Koblentz, 2017, 2018; DiEuliis and Gronvall, 2018). In this study, although a full-length viral genome would be the ideal reference template for detecting MPXV by qPCR, we only sought to assemble a 55-kb viral fragment, less than one-third of the MPXV genome.

It should be pointed out that the faked story originated with Alex Jones, who as you might know, is now trying to dodge the consequences of lying about the victims of a school shooting, having been sued by the grieving parents. Jones used to be a useful gadfly against government overreach, but he went off the rails years ago.

Concern is, it moves most easily though rodents. The human case I know of was a case of a rodent passing the virus on to a researcher who was trying to figure out why they were becoming ill. Weirdly, both the rodents and the researcher responded well to antibiotics, which shouldn't have any effect on a virus infection at all.

And let us pray that there never is any "gain of function " research on monkeypox .

Yes , I found out later yesterday that the National Pulse article is very sketchy :oops2 .

Gonz and Basil talk about it here . Canary Cry News Talk

Alex Jones is useful at times and I need to be more careful of my shares :oops2 .
Thanks Barbarian for the help !
