Earlier this week I was informed by a friend of mine , who sees himself as having no religion, but his own independent thoughts about life, evil and the creation of the universe altogether( which were very interesting might I add) and he told me this rather ummm... profound? statement

If a glutton is involved in gluttony, a tyrant involved in tyranny, then God is an iron
- The Great Zhao

A few seconds later I realized what he was talking about, God's seemingly oh so great irony and contradictions.

I was just wondering about other people's thoughts on this?

oh , he also says that totlitarian agriculture is the root of all evil because without it they would be no slavery and other such acts. :o

This would explain why The Bride of Christ has neither spot nor wrinkle.

But from a theological perspective, your friend's statement has some merit:

Deuteronomy 32:4, "[He is] the Rock, his work [is] perfect: for all his ways [are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] he."

Romans 9:33, "As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."

1 Peter 2:8, "And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, [even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed."

Deuteronomy 8:7-9 (my emphesis), "For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any [thing] in it; a land whose stones [are] iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

Revelation 2:26-27, "And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
