God's appointed Place-of-Safety

Isaiah 10:20
In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of the house of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.

Joel 2:32
And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the survivors
whom the LORD calls.

Isaiah 31:4
This is what the LORD says to me: "As a lion growls, a great lion over his prey— and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against him, he is not frightened by their shouts
or disturbed by their clamor— so the LORD Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights.
5 Like birds hovering overhead, the LORD Almighty will shield Jerusalem; he will shield it and deliver it, he will 'pass over' it and will rescue it."

Shouldn't take that Isaiah 10:20 out of context. It's within a Message that's not to be left out.

Isa 10:16-25
16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among His fat ones leanness; and under His glory He shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.
17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;
18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.
19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.
20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
23 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and Mine anger in their destruction.
(KJV)

Here's a pointer in learning to rightly divide God's Word. This Isaiah 10 chapter covered the historical event of God sending the Assyrian upon Israel as the rod of God's anger. It was to purge out the old dross of the rebellious among Israel. It also serves as a blueprint for the last days prior to Christ's coming, and after. Before His remnant will return there in safety, a destruction from God's hand is coming there first. The mention of a kindling of fire and the burning up of the thorns and briars in one day is an endtime reference for the tares being burned up (Matt.13). That's to occur at the end of this world on the day of The LORD.

In relation to endtime prophecy, just prior to Christ's coming, Jerusalem will not be a place of safety for those who refuse to worship the endtime beast of Rev.13. That's why in the last days before Christ's return, He said this:

Luke 21:21
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
(KJV)

If your preacher at your Church is telling you to get ready to seek safety in Jerusalem just prior to Christ's coming, then that is to fool you, and lead you to the false messiah that is coming there first, to institute the false "Peace and safety" Apostle Paul warned of in 1 Thessalonians 5.

veteran,

You stated: In relation to endtime prophecy, just prior to Christ's coming, Jerusalem will not be a place of safety for those who refuse to worship the endtime beast of Rev.13

My response: I disagree. I believe that God has provided Mount Zion in Jerusalem as a place-of-safety where a pocket of Christians will be physically protected for the duration of the GT. You seem to disagree with me every step of the way. So, if you have a better place, let's hear it. I hope that you are not suggesting that there won't be any Christian survivors.

Hmmm,Jesus says do not go to Judea and Guysmith says to go to Judea.
Hard decision .Who should I believe?

Truly, it's very simple. Our Lord Jesus' warned to stay out of Jerusalem in the lasts days per Luke 21.

Luke 21:20-22
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
(KJV)

Those "days of vengeance" are about the time of His coming to pour out His cup of wrath upon those armies that will surround Jerusalem. That's not about 70 A.D. That's not a metaphor, not a parable, not a story. It will happen literally as written.

Apostle Paul even warned about a time of false "Peace and safety" that the deceived will be saying when that sudden destruction comes upon them. The OT prophets covered it, which is where Paul was pulling from, so none have an excuse in dreaming of today's condition of Jerusalem being a safe-haven.

The ONLY safe location on earth during the "great tribulation" will be IN CHRIST JESUS, a condition of our heart and soul being sealed by The Holy Spirit and prepared to give a Testimony for Him against His enemies, not some geographical location.

Hello veteran and shilo,

Luke's account contradicts the prophets Isaiah, Joel, Zechariah and John. If your understanding of Luke's account is correct, how do you explain:

1. Isaiah gives an account where there will be "survivors" on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. In this account God protects this group with "a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night." When did God protect Jerusalem with a column of smoke and fire, just as He protected Israel in the wilderness?

Isaiah 4:2 In that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel. 3 Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem. 4 The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire. 5 Then the LORD will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy. 6 It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.

2. The prophet Joel states that there will be "survivors whom the LORD calls" on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. Yes, this account is at the timing of "the day of the LORD," however, how and when do you think these survivors got there? Do you think that they were all in hiding around the world, then a day or so before the DOTL they purchased plane tickets (without the mark-of-the-beast) and fly into Jerusalem?

Joel 2: 30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. 32 And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

3. Zechariah provides an account where Christ sets foot on the mount of Olives and creates an earthquake which splits the old city of Jerusalem down the middle. Zechariah's account provides survival instructions to those remaining in Jerusalem at that time. Who are these remaining individuals, how and when did they get there?

Zechariah 14:1 A day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided among you. 2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. 3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. 5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

4. John was told to count the number of "worshipers" in the future temple (which should be located in the old city Jerusalem) and to exclude the rest of the "holy city" for the 42 months of the GT. If these worshipers aren't Christian, why bother counting them?

Revelation 11:1I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, "Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there. 2But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.

5. And what about the two witnesses? Aren't they going to be in Jerusalem for the 1260 days of the GT?

Revelation 11: 3And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth."

Guy

Guy,

I know the Old Testament prophets declared the saints will be gathered at Jerusalem, and that it will be a place of righteousness and true peace and Salvation. The question is WHEN is that supposed to happen?

Notice what is written that must first happen though...

Isa 4:4-6
4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

Only AFTER... The LORD has washed away the sins of the daughters of Zion will Jerusalem become a safe-haven. That burning and judgment is for the day of Christ's second coming, the day of The LORD.

These next Isaiah verses are Christ's Milennium timing, a time after the great tribulation immediately after Christ's return to this earth...

5 And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.
6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.
(KJV)
