There is no need to answer the questions I ask. I did not even really mean for you to answer them. I just wanted to have a discussion on God's Word, and the true depth of it.

--

We are called to live in God's Word, but what is that? Is it the Law and commands written down in the Bible? I think that this is part of the Word, but only a part.

The Word of God made this very world we live in. The Word of God made our bodies. Does this change the idea of God's Word for you? Should we live not only by the Bible, but also by the intrinsic laws that God has planted in every fiber of His creation?

The Bible's ultimate truth is upon our hearts the moment we are born into this world! It is through years of denial that we forget these truths. We can find many of God's Laws throughout the world, even in places untouched by the Bible. Some call it the "Laws of Nature", and we Christians call it God's Word!

As I sit here typing this I am under the sun God gave me, and I am basking in God's Word!

Romans 2:14-15 says in regards to the Gentiles who didn't have the Law:

For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another. Romans 2:14, 15

I like how Jacques Ellul put it in his book What I Believe.

"The word is the order of truth; it is located in the sphere of truth. It can also at the same time be falsehood if it does not speak this truth. For me, this possibility results precisely from the fact that the human word is a response to the Word of God. It has its own autonomy as we ourselves do, and thus it can say things different from what it hears in God's Word. Let us not engage in ridicule in this regard: I do not mean that one ought to reserve the word only for chanting canticles or delivering sermons. I mean that every word ought to carry the meaning that God has given to life (even though it may never refer to God). It ought to carry joy, hope, forgiveness, love, reconciliation, light, and peace in the order of truth. It contributes to the elucidation of the meaning of life."

Thank you Seek!

That is a very good passage. :clap I am reading C.S. Lewis "Mere Christianity" right now and I am totally in tune with what he is saying. All my life I have believed (even before coming to Jesus) that God is upon EACH and EVERY heart. If we do not teach children int he matters of God at all (whether for it or against it) they will almost always allude to a God. I feel it is in the heart and soul of EVERYONE and it is only through denial and improper teaching that a child can grow up to scorn the Lord Elohim.

Often time people are confused about Him, but most of the time they are not confused about His existence, just the means to reach Him! And He so LOVES us that He will listen and answer the prayers of the unfaithful!

I recall the story of a theologian. When he was a child he came to Christ but he came because he prayed to God and God answered. He prayed for God to topple over the tree in his backyard and when God did not instantly do this he said "I thought so." and walked off. The next morning the tree was laying on the ground. It had been struck by a lightning bolt, the only bolt to hit that entire night! :thumb

But truly I feel we can, with clear mind and with selfless intentions, discern much of God's Law from the world around us. We can conclude on much of His nature in the same way. In the same way that an artist puts all of his emotions and soul into his painting, God did so with His glorious creation! :amen
