Hello.
I am going back to church, or, at least, I want to.
But I'm so scared! My anxiety rises when I think about it... And I'm paranoid that the people there...will...hurt me! I want to fellowship so bad but I just can't trust people.
I need prayer. :(. :(. :(

The one true King of all Kings is in the heart and mind. When did a building and other people become greater?. What are you afraid of?. If you dont like it, walk out and wipe the dust off your feet. Easy.
That gave me chills.

Why should someone ever feel uncomfortable going somewhere where others are suppose to have all respect. As Angel said she is scared people might not treat her well, so i say if that is the case, not saying it will be, but if it is, then walk way from that place and wipe the dust off her feet.
I agree, and I believe she is already in church while here.

Dear Sister Angel, fear of the unknown is a reality even nations faced, and Moses gave this following speech to Israel as they were to enter a new land God gave unto them.

Deu 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

You belong to Him who holds you in His hand, has given His Son to die for you, and will never let you go. He leads us in the path of righteousness, and to me the very fact you are wanting Christian fellowship is indicative of His active work in your life. You may very well be sent into their lives to edify them, so enter into His leading with hope and knowledge that He is in control and will keep you safe.

Isa 26:4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

May God bless you Angel for His glory and your good in Jesus’ name.

Luk 12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
Luk 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

:pray

Thanks Deborah :)
Everyone's encouragement helps!

Churches aren't perfect. I've been hurt in my church often enough. Still, the support I get there far outweighs the bad things that have happened. Go to church tomorrow. You'll be glad you did.

I honestly know how you feel.I really do.Don't feel bad if you can not go to a Church. Is there a way that you can go to a small home gathering with a couple of people you trust and are comfortable with?If not God knows exactly what your mind is going through.Better than you do yourself.God does not want your anxiety to go sky high. And if you were in a Church and you could not focus what good would the service be to you?

But....you do not have a mental illness. You have to be in Angel's shoes to understand her situation.

where do you get that idea Kathi ?
in the Scriptures, the apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists .... er >>>> these >>>>
Ephesians 4:11-12
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

11 Furthermore, he gave some people as emissaries, some as prophets, some as proclaimers of the Good News, and some as shepherds and teachers. 12 Their task is to equip God’s people for the work of service that builds the body of the Messiah,

did not have to be in someone else's shoes to understand her situation.

admittedly, most groups today do not operate according to Scripture nor in God's Plan of Healing / Salvation.

To totally understand what a person is going through who is suffering you have to be them.Yes,you might know that person is suffering but you do not totally know how they are feeling. It is like the male gynecologist who tells the mother who is his patient "Yes,I know how terrible those labor pains are".

Jesus told Peter "satan has demanded that he be allowed to sift you and the other disciples" and it was permitted by Yhwh. .....
and
Jesus said "after you have recovered you will be able to likewise help others ....... "

it is not in the flesh nor in worldly training or worldly knowledge or worldly helps that His disciples are able to help others, but after suffering themselves and abiding in Him they are granted the understanding needed, or the patience and helps in God's grace,
to help others who are suffering also.

an honest male doctor knows the limits to what he understands, and if he has any wisdom and truth in him he admits it,
same with 'pastors' and others in the body of Christ,

and the biggest battle is not with the injured ones, but with the world's system opposing all that is true and freely given by God.

*unless like when someone rejected Jesus, He said I came to heal/save you , but you would not.....
concerning Jerusalem and others who rejected Him. that He will not overcome.(a persons free choice)

Are you trying to tell me that if someone does not go to Church they are rejecting Jesus?

To tell you the truth I don't know what you are trying to tell me.

IF i remember , he (other member) and i do understand what you and other member are going through. others(members or not) understand it also. you posted that you thought he or i or someone else could not understand it.

members in the body of christ are placed in our lives at the right time and place as god sees fit to help build up the body and set people free in his love and grace and power by HIS DOING = i.e. not our own doing.... this is often not seen in human-made groups, religious or not, because human-made groups (including forums, churches, clinics, governments, societies)
are usually far out numbering the spirit alive groups and people in christ jesus.

Just what are we going through?
