Come on now what is a Google Bot? or a Yahoo Bot? are we supposed to
scared-1.gif

At the sight of one? Ha! Google Bots, what next lol

As far as I know, those bots are actually computers owned by Yahoo and Google, that "crawl" the internet, indexing web pages for the purpose of retrieval everytime you use their search engines.

Kind of smells like spy ware? why should they care? our health maybe

They may seem like pesky little critters but if it wasn't for those bots there would be no search engines. You couldn't find anything on the net unless you knew the exact address of what you wanted.

Turnorburn,
It's know big deal I think. As far as I know, the search engine bots are not planting anything on your computer. Now there are plenty of websites that plant stuff on your pc when you visit.

They gather data. Anything. In some web searches I've found links to this forum. :-D

A search for "turnorburn" on Google yields this on the first page:
:-D

The more unique someone's nick is the easier it is to find them. So our penchant for individuality works against our want for anonymity.

Sine you were successful in finding turnorburn's postings by typing in the user name, I wonder. Do these "Bots" have access to the user's IP address? Or is that something only the Forum has access to?

Also, today I found another Bot roaming this Forum! The "MSNbot Media"

Now a "media" bot is scanning the forums? Why would a MSNbot entitled "media" roam around this place? What the heck? :o

.

.

Does that mean that just any bot can roam around any web site?

I used to have a personal website that I had a script in the html of each page that would prohibit bots from entering into it.

I think the script was named "no robots" I'm not sure anymore about the name, but I know there are scripts that can be used to keep unwanted bots out of the site. ( But you know.... Come to think about it... as if keeping bots out would make any difference in a forum like this one. Sad to say but I doubt it would.
When something is made "public" that's it folks...enter at your own risk. :-?
I've read where people are now being sued for things they are saying on the internet. Whether the majority of these cases get kicked out of the courts, I don't know, but it IS happening. So BIG brother is a part of the system of society and there isn't much anyone can do about it. Can we? :-? )

The BIG BUG EYE is watching our every move folks. :-?

I agree with turnorburn on this one... Something

No, they don't gather personal info like IP addresses. They go only where any of the public can go without registering. Anyone can wind up here and view any of the forums. But they can't view member profiles until they register and login. Even then IP addresses are hidden. Bots don't have email addresses and can't register anyway.

What you post here or in any forum that allows public access can be viewed by anyone at any time or anywhere. Someone may very well have used some replies here as support in their debate on other forums. We ask that members post within certain parameters and there's reason for it. What is allowed here is a reflection not only on this forum but on those that host it. This forum is part of The 123 Christian Business Directory at http://www.123christian.com/

http://www.123christian.com/christianbu ... boutus.php
The 123 Christian Business Directory site was founded by Truth Design"
You can click on the highlighted "Truth Design" to find out who they are.
Without them there would be no forum in the first place.

Yes, bots can be disallowed to view these forums. But why would that be advantageous? This forum is run by a business and publicity is advantageous to that business. Search engines offer that publicity, that form of advertising. As long as the 123 Christian Business Directory remains in business we have a place to gather and discuss the topics presented. Somebody has to pay for it and we as registered members aren't charged any fees.

Bottom line:
Stay within the parameters set forth by the Terms of Service and you have nothing to worry about. Besides, it'll make my job a bit easier. :-D

turnorburn, This is hillarious!!!!

Kitty cat says, turnorbite!

PotLuck, yeah, business is busness... pay per click and all that stuff, I know, can't make the pocket change without it. Actually, I've seen a news report on the local news not too long ago, how this gal made a million bucks from off of her web site just by having the pay per click on it. Of course, she had a huge amount of people visiting the site on a daily basis. Too bad, I can't remember what tv news station covered that report, and I can't remeber what her site was based on, or what lure for getting people to her site was all about. Oh, well, some people just know how to make a buck! 8-)

.

Yes and we work for those people who know how to make money. The employer that provides your job most likely provides a product or service. He/she makes a buck or three doing it and gives a paycheck for the time employees work to make it happen. As long as they are in business you have an income.

Time is 2:45 Wednesday morning, 15 users on line mostly guests but wait there's more 3 Bots. Oh No! not those Bots again  like this, Yikes!
