Hello, everyone! My name is Colt. I was a Christian for about twenty years before gradually becoming an atheist. I'm NOT here for a flame war, so don't insult me and don't try to proselytize me. My goal is not to destroy your faith, but to erase your superstitions and stereotypes about atheism. That said, I will not be posting in threads giving an opposing viewpoint unless invited to do so. If you have questions or wish to debate me, please invite me to the appropriate thread.
ABOUT STEREOTYPES: #1. We do not worship the devil. We do not worship or believe in any supernatural being or deity, period. #2. We are not evil or immoral. #3. Morals are not born of religion, but of the individual and his or her upbringing. #4. We didn't make anything up. We do not rely on myths. Anything we "believe" is based on facts that can be proven over and over again. #5. Many of us are willing to go out of our way to actually help people.
I can back up all of this and more with examples and proof. Questions, concerns, comments, rebuttals, retorts? Simple friendly greetings are also welcome.
